What’s the last Amiga game they ported

Didn’t they tweak Shogo recently to run on recent AmigaOne machines? Before that I don’t know but surely if they can get developers to work for free then they might as well diversify again away from AmigaOS and litigation!

Gorky 17.

Fun fact, half of the list of BigD's "modern" games are +20 years old...

It pays to be realistic. If they can’t get Worms Armageddon done then I don’t think anything else is realistic. Bear in mind that BioShock was remastered in 2016 and that version couldn’t hope to run on AmigaOne machines with its 1080p textures! Sad state of affairs! I remember the Clickboom! wish list in CU Amiga from circa 1997/98. I think the only thing to come out of that was a resounding no from EA regarding C&C and hence Napalm was commissioned/released. Heck we couldn’t even get Z until the Zod engine was reimplemented/reverse engineered!

@Rose

Gorky 17 was 2015 whereas the Shogo update was 2019. The fastest working coders on the Amiga platform they ain’t!

Shogo can be had for less than £9 however so it isn’t all bad! And the Lithtech engine is almost retro cool at this point! Makes me want to dig out Alien vs Predator 2 again on the PPC Mac. I heard the first one got ported to AmigaOS!

How about they give us OS3.2 and finish OS4 multi core support. Or better still give the job to someone else like the programmers they didnt pay...

Oh, there are Open Source Minecraft clones, like Minetest:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minetest

For AOS4 there is Amicraft:

What's that? From the screenshot it looks like Lemmings 4: Contract Killer

Hyperion already have the rights for the Amiga version of Worms Armageddon, so it would just be a case of finishing it off IMHO! Theme Hospital wouldn't be that hard relatively speaking!

It would be a case of starting the port from scratch unlike Gorky 17 which Richard Drummond had already put in a lot of work into years before Frank Menzel and Thomas Claus picked it up where he left off. In fact Frank who is the coder for EntwicklerX is also responsible for the updated Shogo release and was also involved the most recent update to Freespace.

EntwicklerX have a number of games that haven't been released on OS4 yet so I'd rather see that happen rather some pie in the sky fantasy about new games from Hyperion.

A game I would like to see for OS4 is Payback 2. I've heard that James Daniels is open to the idea of a port but doesn't want to do it himself.

@Rob

So are you saying that Hyperion secured the rights to develop and publish the Phase5 PPC/AmigaOne versions of Worms Armageddon and then did ZERO work on it? If that is true then they are not fit custodians of AmigaOS IMHO as you don’t carelessly invest in promising opportunities and then just sit on them I hope that you are wrong and there is some foundational work to build on if they decide to pick up the project again.

Someone else might try Hedgewars.

It's better than Worms!

@SinanG

Yes, I don't know why people still believe Hyperion would bring them many new games. AOS4 users should be glad if they continue with AOS4.

People here should support programmers like Kas1e, there are so much good Open Source games around, if only 10% of the best would get an AOS4 (or other Amigaoid) port it would bring back more of the 'good old times' than a single port of closed source software.

Hedgewars looks good and it is opensource! Are there any barriers to porting in to AmigaOS/MorphOS/AROS?
