Ok, let me be blunt for once can anyone of the x5000-users send me a copy of preferably the latest version of UBoot? I may have nacked my SD-card as it requires a whole amount of fiddling with it before the system shows any sign of life.

I'm quite tired of my X5000 of late and this may well be my final attempt at reviving it. If it does not work out then I am quite tempted to ditch the whole thing!

@OldFart

Can't help, sorry But you'd better ask at Amigans.net, where the chance is higher to find more X5000 users.

A hint: Every product that had any kind of Amiga branding (the ”Amiga” word-mark, a boing-ball, whatever) that was ”granted” by *Hyperion*, has been withdrawn from market. My guess is that you won’t see any Hyperion affiliated “Amiga One” or “Amiga OS” anytime soon, and that has nothing to do with any stock of goods in any warehouse that might (or might not) be there.

I call BS on you as AmigaOS 3.1.4 is STILL available! Where do you get your information from? If Hyperion has an injunction against them from the court case and AmigaKit and all Amiga resellers can't carry AmigaOne/AmigaOS branded products then you should have issued a news post to the front page! If you are spreading rumours then please desist!

Amiga Store EU - AmigaOS 3.1.4

You claimed in post #13 that Amigakit had sold out their stock. I said they PULLED it from market, for mentioned reasons. The issue at hand was AMIGAKIT's stock, not other dealers.

The MorphOS Team (authors of the original X5000 firmware) has made new developments, at least for the X5040 machine. See the linked thread below. For sure they should have a copy of the 5020 as well. Maybe they can help you with your needs if you ask them directly (in PM)?

@OldFart

Did you ask on the Dutch forum, there are several X5000 users ?

Just to add. Is the firmware available in the downloads section if you log into your account on Hyperion? Assuming you have one as we are meant to register OS4 software there. Aside from that would be contacting AmigaKit or Matthew possibly.

IIRC it's an image that can be written directly. So that would make it easier to restore. From another computer.

Been there, looked for it, found nothing. Iirc Hyperion is reponsible for its maintainance, not?

Been there, done that, heard nothing. Did this more then once over the years. And by asking around you may grasp the outcome of my enquiries at both Hyperion and AmigaKit.

Computers aplenty over here: HP550 laptop running Vista(!), Raspberries Pi 2B, 3B, 4B/4 and 4B/8. And of course an Amiga X5000 (and a beefed-up and ElBoxed A1200 gathering dust...)

Thanks,
OldFart

I would have thought so. But Tony did say ExecSG team now maintain it. That would mean Trevor owns it just to make more complex.

I can imagine. Who was it bought off? Looks like contacting a dealer would be a dead end I take it?

You're covered there. Just to back track. Do you have to physically fiddle with the SD card to get it booting? I wonder if the connector is okay. But also, what if you buy a new SD card, then image the SD card to the new one and test it?

Me being an early bird/wannabe developer, I got it straight from AmigaKit.

Yeah, I found the lid did not close properly.

When I'm mentally up to this, i'll most certainly go this route. Currently I'm not and with the nice wheather looming in the near future one has a hard time finding me inside the house rattling a keyboard and pestering a mouse.

And this also explains my quite belated reaction.
Thanks anyway.

@OldFart

the sd card holder on the X5000 motherboard is a clip type.

the door flips up and forward and it can even pop off!
the best way to secure the sd card is to place it correctly
on the connector pins and then "close" the door.

it is easy to move out of place with too much pressure.
The clip just has two points on the sides and a lip that locks in place.

If it isn't in place correctly the sd card will be "flakey"

I found that by placing the case on it's side (motherboard on the bottom)
I could fix the sd card so it works!

Now many beta testers have an extension cable with a slip in holder...

Physical issues are annoying. Especially touchy connections. As to nice weather, yes I can see your point, which is why I reserve day time for outside and night time for inside when I can. I think the advice from SACC-dude is good. Helps to speak from experience.
