| Hello everyone!
I'm excited to finally release the X1Boot Manager into the X1000 Linux world!
The X1Boot Manager is the culmination of a two year research and development project and then some I call the X1Boot Project. The aim of the X1Boot Project was to prove if:
1. Linux could be booted directly off an X1000 HDD (or SSD.) 2. Linux could be loaded from a standard AmigaBoot menu. 3. Linux could be managed from a Linux boot editor.
Well I'm pleased to say I was successful in all three aims!
The X1Boot Manager
Welcome to the X1Boot Manager. A boot loader and boot editor all combined into one easy package. Designed to simplify management of X1000 Linux kernels and boot menu entries.
The X1Boot Manager allows you to install and manage kernels and a boot menu from one easy interface. It's matched by the X1Boot Loader that will boot Linux kernels. And all this is transparently integrated into your AmigaBoot menu.
Features
* Easy installation and configuring from a standard installer package. * Easy installation of kernel and ramdisks images. * Easy installation of kernel archives with kernel, modules, ramdisks and boot config all installed to system. * Easy installation of ramdisks that can be generated on the fly when needed. * Easy launching from desktop menu with a desktop icon. * Easy setup of quick menu for current system. * Easy management of kernels with functions to view, install, remove and purge kernels. * Easy management of menu with functions to view, add, copy, edit, move and remove entries. * Easy management of install settings with options for compression and level, ramdisk generating and setting a default kernel.

It's a good idea to use a separate HD to OS4, but if you have any extra space, you can just add partitions to your OS4 HD since the boot volume needs to be in FFS. |

How easy/hard is it to install and boot Linux on the X5000? I'm considering an X5000 port, suppose I call it X5Boot, lol, but I have no machine to test it on. I know the booter would need porting to UBoot but that's about all. |

never tried it to be honest (MOS also not) because none of these OS have the same gfx card requirement/support so you have to compromise which I am not doing, using AOS4.1 then... |

The X1000 had no MOS port I know of, which is strange as it's the only late AmigaOne with a "modern" CPU, featuring AltiVec. But I can run an R7 250 with both OS4 and Linux. I can't run much better yet like an an RX yet but I don't need to now. Don't know how MOS doesn't have as good Radeon support as OS4, it's considered to be the better system, and supports the Mac. Perhaps Hans could be contracted for MOS drivers. Both locking NVidia support despite working in AROS. |

| X1Boot Manager 1.1 Update
Hello every one.
I have a much needed update for the X1Boot Manager. This is manly a bug fix update but does bring with it some new features. I recommend installing this as it solves a few issues that crept up after my initial release.
New features
* Progress bars! Now all long operations such as installing kernels, ramdisks or modules will open a progress bar with the current operation in progress.
* Optimised compression. The XZ compressor is now optimised for PowerPC binaries. This can further reduce files sizes by a decent amount.
* Optimised kernels. Kernels installed will now be stripped down to reduce size. The System map will be installed to "/boot" folder.
* Module updating. Reinstalling kernels will now update modules instead of skipping over existing ones.
* Password checking. Passwords are now checked and verified to work before performing any root file operations.
* Default kernel can now be set to None.
