@cgutjahr

Also, Thomas is not Frieden one for sure, he works on ExecSG only as far as I know.

@TheodoreTwinky

Knowing for the fact from the involved parties that Ben cheats business partners he touches with (developers, aeon and all others from the past), sued his own friends (Tim), stole money (aeon), spread lair all the time, and never ever was an honest person with decent morale, make me curious why there still developers left who even touch a shit for him. He just for years sucked for free all the amiga enthusiast's resources, and all the time saying that he can't spend a shit into amigaos4, because he spends all on legal issues (which is bullshit, of course, he just sucked money for his own needs and will do it until there is anyone willing for free for him).

It is very sad to see that people who work on amigaos3.2, still indirectly help him to continue this strategy: take for granted all the free work and making money. I find it funny when read on Hyperion's site this "We thank all of you who have rushed Amiga dealers worldwide to get their hands on a copy of AmigaOS 3.2. If you want to support our efforts further, please head over to our AmigaOS merchandise store. https://shop.spreadshirt.net/amigaos/". What a sucker, eh? Ppls working for free, making him sucking money from sales, and then he somehow connect this work with his shop where you can buy t-shirts :) Like anything of that money in any way is connected with amigaos3 or amigaos4 developing.

Damn, one may think who I am are to think who and where to spend money, but I just sick of him as I know what and how he do, what person he is, and that years of him being there, make things be worse.

He reminds me of those suckers from childhood, who always was a liar, and does not matter what, always cheat anyone, and have no real friends. But in childhood, you at least can beat this moran, but now it's all too tolerate everywhere, and suckers allowed to be suckers because they know how to cheat a law, but call the police when they need him.

I see a pattern here.

Dropping (wrong) names (facts) without confirmation seems your common practice as "journalist". Y

You "mixed" more names "up" here, but as long the bad news regarding AOS4 and the involving parties is out this doesn't matter so much, right?

@BSzili

Actually they acquired the AK-datatypes, not really a new wheel.

I find myself agreeing with you. At least now we know why theyíre releasing utilities and tools Amiga users already have from 4.1FE. Surprise, youíre all beta testers.

@Cheese
In all fairness, this amiga-news article is quite ridiculous:
the headline says
- "A-EON ... own operating system",
however a few lines later this is relativized by saying
- "the term 'Operating System' is never used, but",
while this "but" is followed by the claim that
- "Leaman's description clearly refers to a standalone system" -
only that this claim is a blatant lie because he does not refer to a standalone system anywhere in amiga-news's screenshot-sources. The truth is that there is nothing standalone in Enhancer because it requires AOS4.1, which is something Leaman clearly states.
Lots of hot air.

Of course Leaman's ultimate goal may be an AEOS. But this thing here is just a small first step into that direction, no more no less.

@afxgroup
Looks as if amiga-news followed your name proposal. If they fact-checked this time? Also, looks as if your last name wasn't the only one they knew for sure. Not.

To be fair, they already declassed MorphOS in terms of graphics.

@NutsAboutAmiga

the legal conflict happened because of money and business conflicts... Hyperion (Ben H.) realized that he can only and easy earn money with classic products licensing kickstart roms and selling 3.1.4 and 3.2 he got for free and can sell it expensive. A dream for any company and business man to have people working for free and give you valuable products you can sell with no risk... except that he got in the business territory of cloanto. They (Cloanto) acquired all rights outside and are now defending their business. Both sides are not white knights doing it just for the "community" or "amiga" but for their own interests. I do not understand why you are always only taking one side, expecially if this side is just one attorney. Honestly I do not see any concept of Hyperion execpt getting all money he can get from the market, investments exact zero and no longterm strategy either.

AROS was used f.e. in 3.9 or morphos as far as I know so no problem to even use it commercially. The only price you have to pay for it, if you improve existing routines you must give back changes (if you add something new you must not publish that)

Under the agreement Ben Hermans reneged on, Amiga would have granted Hyperion the right (which it currently doesn't have) to release AmigaOS 3.2. If Hyperion wants to release it as a free update, Amiga has no objection, but Hyperion can't exceed its rights AND profit from it.

The settlement agreement which was nixed required Hyperion to release the 68k AmigaOS update for free. Free doesn't sound greedy at least. Is there a greedy black knight saying, "None shall pass"? Is there a knight of the round table saying, "United for Beauty"?

A few parts of MorphOS were originally derived from work made for the open source AROS project.

MorphOS has released source code as required.

Excellent news! AmigaOS 4.0 was kind of a false-start anyway. The Interfaces used by the Amiga SG kernel were slower to access than the original offset tables on 68k. Hopefully they can fix that in their next generation. Exec TG anyone?

More like pre-1.0 public betas of MorphOS. When MorphOS hit 1.0 I recall it had all the essentials in place and was quite capable to boot and run completely stand-alone.

So they are at a state where MorphOS was 20 years ago. Thatís what I call a head start for the latter. And the head start is not only about quantity of time, itís also about quality, what you fill that time with. Because letís face it, the aggregate MorphOS team has been both bigger over the last two decades and they also play in a different league when it comes to low-level OS development I dare to say.

Itís an ambitious project, but I think itís fair to question the sanity of this. Itís a free world, sure, but they are trying to reinvent the wheel yet another time. OS4 was always years behind MorphOS, it never got close to catch up on MorphOS maturity and feature level in any measurable area (sans shader). So from a tecnological point of view (albeit not necessary from a brand-follower view), OS4 has always been somewhat redundant. And now, 20 years later, AeonKit has launched yet another ďcompetitorĒ instead of using whatís already there. Thatís redundancy 2.0. In several years from now (if they base the OS on AROS components, otherwise much, much longer) they may be able to release an OS that perhaps will land somewhere between OS3 and todays OS4. Not retro, not NG, and completely irrelevant to anyone living in 2025.

Ah, you mean "agreement" that was never really in force? I thought there was a legally binding agreement acknowledged and signed by both parties.

Summary on amiga-news.de is more comprehensible than statements by either party.

I somewhat missed this one, it seems playing video games takes too much of my attention.
