Which Linux Distro for AmiKitXE?

Time to format my desktop PC and get rid of Windows10, and replace it with the leanest, quickest, and coolest Linux distro, with it directly booting up AmiKit at startup, and running the couple of Windows only programs I use often through WINE and the Rabbit Hole feature included with AmiKitXE. For some reason, my Windows installation on my old but fast over-clocked i5 system, has become really slow running and booting, and I just have not been able to track down what is slowing everything down to get it back to normal. Perfect time to just wipe the drives and start over with something better and more enjoyable. If I don't like it, I can always go back to Windows10. I use my Ryzen5 + Nvidia 1080Ti laptop more these days anyway, so I'm not really risking much by getting rid of Windows10 on my desktop. The desktop has a Radeon RX580 video card, which I hope won't be too difficult to find a Linux driver for.

Anyone have suggestions for the best Linux distro to use to host my AmiKit system?

I have tons of questions, as I've never set up Linux to be a host system for AmiKit before. In fact, it's been years since I've installed any version of Linux on anything, and I never was very knowledgeable about Linux even when I was playing around with it years ago.

I'd like to see a huge speed improvement from the screwed up Windows10 installation that I now have on my desktop PC. I have an M.2 drive, and an SSD SATA drive, plus a 1tb HDD in my desktop now, plus I have a brand new 2.5-inch 1TB "Gold S31 SSD" made by SK hynix that has been sitting on my desk for months, waiting to be installed in either my laptop, or my desktop system, and I could install it and use it as the primary drive for this Linux system I want to set up, without needing to format my current screwed up Windows10 drive.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@amigadave

I haven't had trouble with emulation on any Linux distro that I've tried, so if you have a favorite, it will probably work fine. If you haven't used Linux much, I would try Linux Mint, since there's less post-install configuration to do, and the codecs are easier to install than with straight Debian.

If you want to try something cool, EndeavourOS (based on Arch) is nice.
