I just released MediaVault v1.4.1.

This version brings the following:
- Added an error message when podcast response is not a successful one
- Added scripts/start_player.sample script. This can be used to set the preferred player. This needs to be renamed as start_player to be used. The reason the file is named like that is to avoid replacements in future updates. The file includes configuration for different supported players, but more can be added.
- Added Trending Podcasts search based on category and/or language
- Added radio station bitrate and codec information in results list and at the right sidebar.
- Changed the about window to add more information.
- Fixed the error of not finding the texteditor.gadget on start

I would like to thank my supporters at https://ko-fi.com/walkero, who help me a lot on the further development of MediaVault.

@All

Here is a MediaVault script that has been modified with the following changes:

* Made it easier to change players by setting a player variable.
* Added showmode 1 option to ffplay to display audio waves.
* Added ability to show requester to choose player when play is clicked.
* Requester can be disabled by setting a variable in script.
* Changed error messages so they display in a requester.

See the "User Settings" area in the script to set variables to make
it work the way you want it to. Directions in script.

See this post on Amigans to get a copy of the script:

@walkero

Have the latest version, downloaded it today and am having a problem on the Trending Podcast option. When I select it, I get an error requestor that says:

There was an error with the returned data. Please try again. If the problem remains, please, check your network and that your system time is synced.

Time is correct and network is OK.

The regular Podcast search option works fine.

I am using an X5000/20 and just installed Enhancer 2.1 pack today.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

@tlgrooms
Thank you so much for using MediaVault.

I know that the online service that provides podcasts information, do some work on that section, and there might be a few issues there.

What did you select at the category and language boxes? If you selected only a category, try to select a language as well.

Providing your selections here helps me replicate the problem.

@walkero

Trying it last night, it only appears to happen if you do not change the settings and try to search with the defaults for trending podcasts.

Once I selected a language, it worked.

Thank you again for such a great program. I also enjoyed your talk at AmiWest and since you mentioned the tools you are using, I may try to gather them myself and have a try at coding something just to see if I can.

Thanks again!
Tim

@All

I've updated the MediaVault script to v1.3.

It includes the ability to not only choose the player from a requester but also allows a choice to download a stream copy or convert to mp3 as it's downloading. It requires ffmpeg for downloading to work.

Read the readme file in the archive for user customizable options.

It has been uploaded to OS4Depot under the name mediavaultscript.lha.
Currently in the upload area but should be available soon.

A few days ago I run a poll among my supporters, who helped me decide the next big feature for MediaVault. The poll had 4 different options. The one that got the most votes is "Mark favourite radio stations and podcasts".

I am excited to work and bring this feature to MediaVault, since this makes it really useful, not only to discover radio stations and podcasts but also to organize them and create your favourite lists, for faster finding what you would like to listen to.

This is a feature that no other application for AmigaOS 4 has, and I am really happy to work on this.

So, the next v1.5.0 I expect to have this new feature for all of you to use.

I just released MediaVault v1.5.0.

This version brings the following:
* Added the ability to mark favourite radio stations and podcasts.
A new list is created where you can find them and select one to
listen to
* Added an asterisk above the play button that helps the users to
add the selected podcast or radio station to the favourite list.
It also works as an indicator if the selected item is already
in the list or not.
* Added "Listen Later" list which will have the marked podcasts
episodes which the user select from the Bookmark button,
above the play button.
* Added all the necessary images into the archive, with
Martin (Mason) Merz permission
* Added help hint texts at the play, bookmark and favourite
buttons
* Compiled with libcurl 7.79.1
* Removed the small boxes at the end of each line at the update
changelog text
* Code simplified and cleaned in some places
* Fixed issues that could make MediaVault crash system at the
image download section. This fixed also some images that were
not downloaded. So now it will be able to show more images
than before.
* When the radio station and podcast list was populated but a
the new search brought no results, the lists were not cleared and
the choices were not usable. Now the list remains as it was,
with the results it had, but the choices are usable, as they
were.

I would like to inform you all about the projects me and my supporters donated today.

Since I started my ko-fi page I decided that by donating to me you also donate to other projects and developers, as I donate 50% of the goal or monthly amount to others.

This month we supported JPV and Orgin for OS4Depot.net and for the tremendous work they do.

Once more, I would like to thank all my supporters for your generous donations and support. With your help and love, you help me do the best work I can and provide it free to everyone.
