| Evie Salomon, creator of the BackBit cartridge and other Commodore bits (!), has released the BackSID, a replacement for the 6581/8580 SID chip in the Commodore 64/128/64C/128DCR. BackSID auto-detects into which Commodore it is installed, and with an upcoming C64 configuration program, the user will be able to customize the settings and upgrade the firmware. Not only does BackSID offer good sound but also supports inputs, like mouse, paddles, and Koalapad. It does not offer audio pass-through. For more BackSID details, see
https://store.backbit.io/product/backsid/
To see Evie’s video presentation of the BackSID, see

To see the rest of Evie’s products, see

The BackSID is very reasonably priced at $29 US, not including shipping.

Most SID replacements are using an ATMEL MCU, some are even open source . There is nothing wrong with an emulation via a MCU but I doesn't like it when someone sells them with removed labels on the chips or without information where he got the code.

Ordered mine for my C128 which I took out of storage recently & I had plucked the SID chip out of years ago to put into my Catweasel MK4+ in my X1000 Last edited by klx300r on 20-Sep-2021 at 12:03 AM.
