Hi, folks!

I'll be doing a A1222 demo at AmiWest in a couple of weeks and am looking for content requests. Is there a piece of software you'd like to see running? Any questions you want answered? Let me know in this thread and I'll see what I can do. Thanks!

Hi Eliyahu,

Nice! Looking forward to see the demonstration on the livestream!

I would be very interested in seeing the following:

- E-UAE - Emulation of different games (especially AGA titles) to see how the system performs in comparison with the Sam460 in this area.

- The Battle for Wesnoth - Regular gameplay.

- Hollywood - A test of the different examples included with the program, like effects and cracktros. These can be ran from the Hollywood GUI.

- General web browsing to compare with other AmigaOS 4.x systems (Sam's etc.)

- Tower57 - Regular gameplay.

- 4K video demonstration

Sorry for many suggestions here, but there is a lot I'd like to see.

Good luck with the demonstration!

@eliyahu

Thanks. I look forward to your demo.

I would like to see ...
- General web browsing with Odyssey
- DVplayer or equivalent playing a video with sound or music

As general information, I would also like to know if you have tried any desktop publishing programs (such as Final Writer 97) or paint programs (such as TVPaint, PPaint or SketchBlock). I'm not asking for a demo of these programs, just confirmation that these kind of programs work on this new system.

@redfox

Does it really matter when the likely hood of the public being able to buy one any time soon is very slim at best.

I would like to see the PPC native ImageFX 4.5 doing cloud, lightning, and other FPU intensive effects. I would also like to see the PPC native Blender at work. if you don't have these, then perhaps Andy Broad could help with the demo?

@g01df1sh

I've given up on ever buying one. I just spent $1500 on TV Paint Professional v10 for my new PC. It blows the doors off the Amiga version 4.3 (I believe was the last upgrade) Check out their website, I can't do justice to their advanced product in words. Anyone using Amigas is now 10 years behind new hardware. The devices (like iphones) people carry in their pockets have more power than the priciest Amiga! I said 5 years ago that there'll never be an A1222. So far I'm right - if not tell me where I can buy one - I'll order it today, but it goes on my credit card unlike the Alien BoXer from Anti-Gravity who stole $2000 from my pre-order with their vaporware.
Mastercard will take back bogus charges made selling vaporware!!! Never send a check!

Why wouldn’t you want to see a demo of those? I certainly would!

And of course Blender!

@eliyahu: I would like to see how AbiWord and/or Gnumeric are performing (with AmiCygnix). If possible. Thank you!

@Thread

Unless the machine is available or with a firmed up launch date you might as well be demoing the Walker IMHO. In which case just seeing the splash screen is a novelty!

Does it run Doom?

@BigD: If the machine would be already available, we wouldn't need a demonstration.

What?! Would people then buy it without seeing it in action? Doubtful! It's just I view it as vapourware currenty or more accurately; a product for Beta testers only! The ultimate product for the classes and not the masses!!

Also, how do we know whether this is a Mk1 or re-engineered Tabor? Who's to say that the ACube version has successfully reincorporated all the old functionality with new components?

@BigD: Just don't watch, if you are not interested.

So is it a new batch A1222 Plus then or a privileged Beta tester who got his board half a decade ago? I guess he's had a lot of time to work out what the board can do if that's the case but since it doesn't prove another batch is on the way, yes who cares?!

What does it matter? None of the major components have changed. What functionality do you think a few minor components could possibly change?

Yes, I agree. Something that would require intensive rendering.

@Rob

Because if it’s not a new revision it’s not a sign the new boards are nearing completion so there’s no need to drum up any excitement! Mk1 was vapourware/beta tester ware and mk2 is TBC!

When it’s done!

We don't actually know what the holdup is. It could be software licensing, not hardware.
