So The Nft world has largely pass me by and I think it’s a big scam personally,

But memes have sold and other digital art rights are now being sold like this. I don’t quite get it, but I did wonder if and what value you think other Amiga art work would fetch and what other Amiga users think of all this.

Boing Ball animation, I guess only Cloanto would have right to sell Nft, I don’t think they effect the copyright of the image, I could be wrong, I don’t quite get this whole new world really.

I was thinking the juggling animation and Dpaint Tutankhamen, are worthy of art work classic, would you buy them?

Part of my curse is that I do understand all the cryptocurrency related stuff.

If I had the kind of money to waste on NFTs, I would not be wasting it on NFTs. Just like I would never be collecting physical art, ancient artifacts, classic cars, or wine you could never drink.

Much like a blockchain or an alt-coin, NFTs as a technology concept in the sphere of cryptocurrencies has potentially good uses, but we are yet to see those. Until then, I will steer clear of the crazies.

Also, that Amiga is Rising article is using a C64 in the image. Suspect.

There's not much to get. Some digital artist has created a piece of digital art that they are willing to sell (inclusive of all rights) for the equivalent of $140-ish.

It's Capitalism 101. If one wants to buy it, and they think it's worth $142.08 (as of writing), then they do. They can then use the image in any form or channel they want. Furthermore, as the rights holder, they get to chase down and potentially shake down anyone who is using the image without rights being granted.

You or I don't think it's worth $142.08. The artist is hoping someone out there does.

NOTE: The use of the Commodore C= logo mark is open to challenge.

Is that Commodore monitor Lego or Minecraft?

I can't see Amiga NFT taking off as a large amount of Amiga users were pirates. Back in the day you could copy a disk if you had a spare disk since you can't pirate out of thin air. But now, any kind of asset can be found on the the internet and downloaded, and it's almost out of thin air since storage is taken for granted.

We can think back to the mp3 wars. When bad quality CD rips took over buying real CDs. Because the internet gave free access to them and you could turn a song from a CD into a file.

Now days buying music as a file is more common. Or even more common streaming but then choice is limited. And then movies used it. And using real money. But I still feel funny paying for a file like a movie as there is nothing physical in my hands. I have a Steam account so it's similar to pay for games and get a bunch of downloadable files back, and the same for AmiStore or Hyperion games online.

The encrypted currency complicates it. When normal money has had electronic transfer for decades without relying on tricks like generating some encryption key then needing to sell it. Against the backdrop of the black market where people will trade money for a bunch of files.

I'm hardly trying to bring myself up-to-date with all this cryptothings including NFTs, because considering them another big vapourware-scam is just too easy.

As far as I can see, when you buy a NFT you're just buying a certificate, like a big personalized price tag, stored on a distributed database you can hardly counterfeit. Ok.

But the problem here is: who is giving a damn legal value to the blockchain?

I mean: I can easily put a NFT certificate on my creation. But, in case of a legal dispute, will my NFT ever be considered "trustable" and a legit proof of my work? Shouldn't NFT be RECOGNIZED first by some international treaty, or by laws? If I register my creation to SIAE (Italian publishers and authors association - in practice the legal arm of our country about copyrights), I can bring my SIAE certificate to the judge. But what about NFTs?

Otherwise, I'd just pay a personalized price tag put somewhere with no REAL value.

That's, by the way, what I think about cryptocurrencies as well.
