| What to people think about Microsoft paying over $70 billion for Activision Blizzard?
https://www.ign.com/videos/xbox-makes-biggest-acquisition-in-gaming-history-for-70-billion-ign-daily-fix
I am personally only really interested in StarCraft 2 out of the Blizzard stable and ironically Blizzard had already shelved the series and under MS we might stand a better chance of SC3!!
Maybe it will motivate Sony to revamp Killzone or Resistance?
P.S. Sorry for the typo in the first option of the poll! I meant 'now' not 'know'! Last edited by BigD on 19-Jan-2022 at 04:42 PM.

| It’s kinda nuts they paying that much, I cant help but feel with 1/3 of that money they could of hired some of the best programming and games designers in the industry to make some new ip titles or relaunch some of the ones they own but I suppose they really want to expand the game pass and heard this is Microsoft play on the meta verse with other worldly titles like World of Warcraft & StarCraft might be interesting.
I think we are in the last generation of console that will have physical media unfortunately, the disk less console seem to be a success, I think streaming will take off, I expect this gen of console to last about 8 years however, but by the end of it I think your right they might both offer a simple tiny streaming boxes system.

| Will be the same old shit different day. No originality in games any more just remakes and sequels which is why I like having my retro system to go back to from time to time. There also some nice new games coming on the Amiga that have gameplay not GFX which is a rare thing now.

True. Reshoot 3 Proxima and Metro Siege seem the cream of the crop with Creeping me Out a close third! Good stuff in Amiga-land but not so much in AAA space. The Delicious Last Course being the only 'mainstream' offering this year that I'm excited about! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." ... I take that back. Holy moly they're only releasing a sequel to Windjammers the seminal Ultimate Frizbee arcade game TOMORROW!!! How can COD compete with that?
Who needs Activision Blizzard? A-EON should buy SEGA to readdress the balance! Last edited by BigD on 19-Jan-2022 at 10:08 PM. Last edited by BigD on 19-Jan-2022 at 10:07 PM.

Yeah. M$ is buying out the competition with its big $$$ Choice is getting less. This is the problem with having so much money to spend in one company, they just buy out or buy under other companies, making it hard for them to continue or they just get absorbed. However they see the fit really. Money is not a real issue anymore. I still have my ideas that M$ had a hand in Amiga's demise too by paying certain people to go a certain way. Commodore started competing by making x86 PCs Last edited by SHADES on 19-Jan-2022 at 10:55 PM.

Similar to you, I am a big fan of the StarCraft series. Earlier in 2021 I re-played through the remastered original + expansion and SC2. Damn those cinematics in SC2 are amazing. Whilst many say there can't be a sequel as the story is completed, I'm fine with SC3 not having Jim Reynor and Kerrigan. I'm sure there are other stories to be told in the StarCraft universe.
I used to be a CoD fan, but then it lost its single-player story ways and focused more on multiplayer. The last one I played was the 2017 WWII, based on positive reviews. I found it still had too many timed action sequence events, where I feel it should go back to the pacing flexibility of the earlier days.
Blizzard and Activision have been cash printing machines for over a decade now. Even though it's officially Microsoft buying the previously merged studios, it's really the Xbox division that will be the benefactor. I've generally enjoyed my journey with Xbox over the years, both in terms of hardware and the games. And I'm fine with Games as a Service, even though I play 1-2 new games a year.
Gaming as we know it, started ending a fair while ago. Gaming in general though, has never been as big and diverse as it is today. Last edited by agami on 20-Jan-2022 at 02:34 AM. Last edited by agami on 20-Jan-2022 at 02:31 AM. Last edited by agami on 20-Jan-2022 at 02:31 AM.

Seriously, do you remember when games were fun and not about respawn points?

A breath of fresh air and these guys did Streets of Rage 4 too! They can do no wrong IMHO! Screw M$, screw Activision and RIP Blizzard. Here's to fun! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Dotemu are their name, they're French and put full AAA developers to shame! Codemasters and Sumo Digital used to be fun like this but they're all sold off now (to EA and Tencent respectively) and probably neither are now long for this world _________________ "Art challenges technology.
