Why use any of them? Plain AmigaOS isn’t good enough? _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Mainly because not everyone wants to spend the time of setting up a base AmigaOS3.1 setup to a fully modern environment.
Not everyone would know how to do it
Plus its not just a case of installing a few addon here and there, Amikit has over 420 pre-installed and pre-configured Amiga programs and it keep track of them and updated them for you and test that there no conflicts.
so that to me is worth it, plus all them nice pre-setup theme that can be installed with just one or two clicks.Last edited by amigang on 04-Jun-2022 at 05:20 PM.

Well, some of us don't need any "fully modern environment"... call me a purist, but even my OS4 enviroment is configured to look like plain OS3 ("ultra-classic" theme). However, I agree there are users appreciating such a pre-configured package. |

Activate ClickToFront and then a plain AmigaOS is usable. I'm always shocked that Amiga users can use a Workbench without it. I find it so annoying on OS2.0 and above! |

I can`t do what I like with Amikit anymore. Amikit got "paranoid" "Copyright" "Protection"
I will give my Money to AmigaSYS instead! I am no Amikit "Customer" anymore!

| I just find it ironic that people insist on saying they love AmigaOS because it is so simple, lightweight and easy to use, and then go on to use these obnoxiously bloated and complex “distros” because it is so hard to install and maintain the OS by themselves. Why have tons of software installed that you don’t even know what is, does or how to use? _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

for some even having RTG, Network and USB is "bloated". You also have countless patches who partly not work together or cause problems with certain software. To get something working needs a lot of time. For some this is the fun part to get a individual environment and others just want to use something out of the box. Different people, different decisions. |
