| Hi All, I am trying to connect a piltbox ethernet adaptor to my Amiga A1200 running OS 3.2.1. I have installed EasyNet Pro as my TCP Stack, which runs fine when I use a PCMCIA network adapter. But I would like to free up that slot for a large CF card for Games and Demos, so I am looking at other options. When I open "Local Host list", on "EasyNet Pro" and try and ping the Host from there, I get the error message "AMITCP/IP version 4 or later must be started first." This does not happen with the PCMCIA card? Any Clue as to why would be very helpful. Thank you, Brad Hansen |

You should know that PlipBox speed is about 10% PCMCIA card speed. |

And you have of course installed and configured the plipbox sana2 device instead of the pcmcia one? _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Forget it!
If you want to connect a large CF Card somewhere you should look for a IDE CF-Card Adapter.
CF Cards don't fit into the PCMCIA slot directly.
Keeping the PCMCIA Adapter for Ethernet and connecting a CF Cards Adapter at the IDE Bus would be better.
Look here under 'Using an internal CF adapter' : https://offog.org/notes/archiving/amiga-1200-cf/ |

| The Amiga 1200 has a PCMCIA slot for a good reason - its bandwidth far surpasses the arcaic parallel port, and there is dirt-cheap PCMCIA Ethernet hardware around that's fully compatible with the A1200.
Moreover, the Roadshow TCP/IP stack is a far better choice. Not only is it being maintained on a regular basis, but it is also developed by the highly respected AmigaOS developer Olaf "Olsen" Barthel. Roadshow licenses are more than fairly priced (€25), and can be bought and downloaded immediately from from Amigashop.org.
All in all, do yourself a solid and buy a PCMCIA network card along with a copy of Roadshow. Your Amiga 1200 will thank you for it, along with the people developing and maintaining AmigaOS software. Last edited by Petah on 24-Aug-2022 at 07:30 PM.
