Nothing in text says does NOT support AHI, nor does say its only OCS, ECS or AGA demo, any way the demo does not work on AmigaOS4.1 update 2. It brings up a gray screen, and that’s it. and then the system crashes.

1. Every real Amiga has OCS, ECS, or AGA.
2. AHI is a 3rd party addon, not part of AmigaOS.
3. AmigaOS 4 is an anomaly. The correct lineage is 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2.
4. If your system runs Amiga OS 4 then it could well have some other compatibility issue (software or hardware).
5. This forum is 'Classic Amiga Software'. That doesn't (or shouldn't) include OS 4.
If I had programmed this demo I would have deliberately made it not work on OS 4, just to in some small way redress the balance of all those other recently released 'Amiga' programs that don't work on real Amigas. If smug OS 4 users get upset about it then even better!

Requires: Any 2meg Amiga Architecture: m68k-AmigaOs >= 2.0.0 AmigaOS 4.1 is probably not defined as an m68k OS
Tested with winuae, and found that it works with A500 (ROM 2.04), 68000, 512kb chip/1.5mb slow ram, and also runs from a more expanded Amikit setup.
Only thing I found is that it seem to require mathtrans.library, or it will give a gray screen even on the A500 setup.
Edit: Just tested the demo again with my AmigaOS4.1 update 2 setup (emulated on winuae), and the demo does run. I could not get any audio output though, but I didn't fiddle to much with the audio settings. Last edited by amyren on 27-Jul-2022 at 09:43 AM.

AmigaOS4.1 will report 50mb of chip ram. (memory allocation should not fail)

Does have a JIT compiler, and can run m68k code.
it's far between demos that will work, but Mad Wizards & Elude, Decadence is demo groups that is known for making demos that work on AmigaOS4 and AmigaOS3.
If he wants to be as good as this demos groups, he better sharpen up, his programming skills.

I have mathtrans.library.
My guess, is that he uses an internal module player, instead of using a external module player routine, or he uses the CIAA/CIAB timers, instead of VBL or Timer.device for timeing.
Ptreplayer.library, ptplayer.libray, or medplayer.library should all work on AmigaOS4.1 maybe also on MorphOS.
AHI is not a requirement to support AmigaOS4.1 if he uses an external player. One more thing he is most likely getting a RTG screen, if he did not specify a MODE ID, when opening the screen. and he can't trust bytesPerRow is screen width might be something you did not expect.
He can also compress thigs with powerpacker, but he should not use a internal packer routine, this mess with cooper and mouse pointer and maybe other things.

Yes, he should always check that he can open libraries, that’s just good programming practice.Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 27-Jul-2022 at 10:29 AM.
