If I update my A600 to 8 MB of Fast Ram and 2 MB of Chip Ram, what updates and patches could I use to improve performance?

One machine has OS3.1 and the other has OS3.2.
Thanks.

@Trekiej

That depends on what are your intentions with your A600. Your intended system is perfect for WHDLoad installed games. Although there are some "speedup" hacks on the Aminet, no patches will improve 68000/ECS for more "modern" productivity applications (eg. those using MUI).

@Trekiej

Like mentioned, there’s very little you can do that will speed up anything. Keep the screen resolution and colour depth low (I use mostly 4 colour laced NTSC screens on my similarly configured A600), and it’s fine.

@OldAmigan

Thanks everyone, an accelerator is a must I see.
RTG is also a must.

The lowly A600 needs a new main board.

@Trekiej

Did you accidently poste this under "Amiga OS 4 Software"

Quote:

as you can’t possibly fit a Sam440 or Sam460 into A600,
you might as well convert your Amiga into a keyboard.
using the Keyrah.

My advice, is don’t do it, all you get is a keyboard with missing keys like F11 and F12, this keys are never ever used by Amiga software, so they really handy to use in emulators.

And I think your A600 is better at running old games and demos, you wont get a OS4 version of this any time soon. If that’s what you want to do, then there are better options. .

We are seeing some 680x0 software being updated, to not blow up on AmigaOS4, but that’s only for actively developed software.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Sorry, I did not mean to put it under os 4.

I could save alot of space on my desktop if I could do all of my usual stuff on an A600 with a better main board.

I need a pi-storm.
