ADF is short for Amiga Disk Format, and is disk image, a copy of blocks of floppy disks in typical the DD format, but it can also be in HD format. It can also be back complete hard drive or a partition.
It has blocks, and file system inside it typically OFS or FFS filesystem formats, the files inside disk image, is executables for Amiga hardware or OS, can’t execute this file without hardware or the OS, the images or other content can be image in IFF / ILBM format, this file can be views in some PC programs, photoship, infraview, maybe gimp, music mod files can play different mod players on PC.
ADF files can also be in NDOS format, that means raw block of 512 bytes, typically this ADS has boot sector that only executed by MC680x0 CPU, again you need an emulator.
