Just wonder what, if any Amiga are you likely to buy next.

I would buy a A1000 if a saw one for a bargain. Still annoyed with myself at the Amiga 30th they where selling them for just $50, wish I bought one, (shipping it back to uk though would of likely cost me a fair bit)

I think likely my next Amiga will be a custom build, either Arm base or Intel base and make a ultimate emulated Amikit setup, the pi400 is dam close but I would like a bit more power plus the Arm JIT emulator is not quite as good as the WinUAE / x86 version. Plus I also want it in Amiga case, likely in a A1200 new cases.

Then after that I don’t think I will buy another Amiga, unless a new Next Gen arm base AmigaOs4.2 showed up. I have an A1200, CD32, A1200 PowerTower 040, and a X1000 (for now) and I kinda feel bad but emulation has got so good, I kinda switching to that as my Amiga uses now.

What’s your thoughts?

ps: no idea if a A500 maxi will show up, I just put that up there for a bit of fun, I also would of put up Next gen arm based Amiga but I ran out of choice and it was either that or pancakes, and pancakes alway win in my books.

@amigang

For me it will most likely be the A500 Maxi, if/when they produce it.

Otherwise I currently have more Amiga options than I have time to use them. Haven't even setup my A500 Mini yet.

I'd be keen to try out initiative such as emu68 and AxRuntime.

Ultimately, should my financial situation recover in 2023, I'd like to put some money behind getting a new JIT kernel based Amiga up and running, similar to Amithlon/Umilator.

For shame! Use it or let it go free!

It's worth setting up to play Dolphin Blue and Wipeout 2097 via Pandory on a mini A500!

THEA1200 Maxi/Amiga 1200 Maxi/ReAmiga 1200 with 68060+, AA+, modern I/O and AmigaOS!

Why would I buy emulation hardware when emulation works fine on a "PC" that has better price and performance than an AmigaNOne?

You are aware that this is precisely what emu68 is?

Yes, those famous native 68k Amiga games that matthey and agami are working so hard to design a new 68k SoC for!! Or at least talking about, so it must be a plan, right?!

@kolla

Well since he already has Classic Amigas why not play some other great games? Wipeout 2097 wasn't exactly easy to run on an Amiga and didn't have the licenced soundtrack. I never heard of Dolphin Blue in 2003 but it makes a change from the Mini Slug port on the Amiga. Metal Slug with dolphins, what's not to like?

Plus, Pandory is the ONLY way to play 2-player mouse Amiga games and 4-player Amiga games on the Mini. You might as well mess some other emulators while you're there!

You're right though, designing new 68k CPU stuff is a bit crazy when Amiberry has proved 040 speeds are possible even under emulation!

@amigang

I think ACube-System PowerPC laptop is interesting, hope it will run AmigaOS4.x, its also something different to what I already have.

(Also an FPGA Amiga is also being considered, properly not.)

I suppose I should've been more specific:
a new JIT kernel based Amiga up and running on x86-64, in the style of Amithlon.

If Michal is open to having it ported to x86 and turn it into an installable subsystem for a set of Ryzen-based hardware, then I'd like to financially support such an initiative.

Yes, I am ashamed.
I will get some time this coming holiday season.

I watched a Pandory A500 Mini video on YouTube. Very impressive .
I've always enjoyed a good game of WipeOut.

An Amiga by definition is a system with 68k (or compatible) processor with OCS, ECS, AGA (or compatible) chipset.

So the choices are very limited...

@MEGA_RJ_MICAL

Friend Mega,
the web site of the TINA project appears to be offline ... they are probably updating it with the latest news and the date of shipping.

Do you know if preorders of the Tina are available ?

And do you have a contact info to the project owner ?

No it's not. It works "out of the box" on the mini, even without updating the firmware if you learn to use it.

'040 speeds under emulation and above were possible a good decade + before the original raspberry pi was even a twinkle in the creators eyes. Amiberry proved nothing. It's nothing more than an outdated port of WinUAE for extremely weak ARM hardware. It works pretty well, but it sure as heck didnt prove anything.
