Were "someone" to produce a new forum site for Amigans of all types, with modern features, and the ability to import your AW.net history, would you donate to the cause? And if you're OK with a subscription, how much would you be prepared to pay per month/year?

| @agami: a one-time payment for moving the forum to a modern software would be ok. |

I'll wait for your second attempt at creating an Amiga forum before I consider whether or what I'd pay. |

If you bring back the bunny then I would join and probably also donate some. (But only if you also get Terry to re-join.) Last edited by V8 on 10-Nov-2022 at 01:05 AM.

See, friend V8, this more or less my intent.
As they say "Paradise on Earth" or "Socialism in our lifetime", I thought "Moobunny on Amigaworld".
This is the future I have been trying to build for you all, a land of plenty and freedom.
But, alas, these old eyes might not live to see the job accomplished. The powers of censorship, rejuvenated by woke (green of course) fuels, are already stirring to undo my work.

Have to say that I'm more than a little disappointed at 43% conservative vote.
I mean, I've heard of "Ain't broke, don't fix" but, IS BROKE, don't fix? Those are some special kind of masochists.

The problem is how to get users on a new forum. We've seen several tries in the past, but they've only got fraction of users from old well-known forums and finally just fade away. I guess the best would be to renovate old ones, but as seen with amiga.org, that doesn't necessarily go right either... I think long downtimes while building the new site drove people away from there too. I also don't know how much compatibility with non-CSS browsers would affect now that IBrowse and networked classics is a thing again :)_________________ - The wiki based MorphOS Library - Your starting point for MorphOS - Software made by jPV^RNO |

I think you've mischaracterised the users and the poll reflects it. Most are likely to be in my age group, or older (given I was a relatively late adopter). We're thicker skinned, more opinionated and more set in our ways and less likely to be bothered by what you consider to be the broken aspects of the forum.

Would it be moderated? What would we discuss? Seriously Amigaworld is less and less relevant and the platform better served by English Amiga Board, Discord and dare I say it FaceBook! Amiga.org had money thrown at it but is pretty quiet still! I'm not paying to have madman like Violent Ken stir and smack talk the threads into irrelevance!
I think without a strong AmigaOS 4 scene this forum struggles! Last edited by BigD on 11-Nov-2022 at 09:57 AM.

Given that 'modern, web pages invariably equate to no longer works on Amiga browsers, are you that surprised ?
So many previously perfectly working websites no longer do because of the unnecessary drive to use 'modern' features.
A working website is becoming more of a rarity these days.
Wha is supposedly wrong with this site? It seems to work well here and more importantly on Odyssey and I do not have to resort to using a foreign browser on my tablet on a screen size not really suited to browsing.
I'd donate to keep sites that work well on Amiga browsers from being replaced by ones that don't !

| I dont feel we need another forum, but then again i do like the idea of combining all of amiga forums and all discussions into one mega forum that you could use to search stuff on and discuss stuff with users across the scene from different forums on one central site as certain users have there fav.
I even seem to remember a site that did that and had just the top post from each forum.

All very well and good for users of the sites to express opinions, but perhaps I've missed something.
Has the owner of Amigaworld and Amiga.org (in the many years since their acquisition) ever discussed their feelings/plans about the future?
I always felt they were merely bought for the logos and obvious control issues but if anyone has heard otherwise, I'd be willing to listen.

You have succeeded well, friend MEGA, although quite a few of your foils bear a great deal of responsibility for turning AWN into a new Moobunny as well. The downside is, like Moobunny before it, the current AWN is no longer interesting to large swaths of the community. The AOS4 users, in particular, have effectively given up, moving over to amigans.net while the 68K users are mostly on Facebook, amiga.org, or EAB.
Not sure AWN can return to its former self at this point, so, dear friend MEGA, might as well enjoy yourself while you can.
And, if you'll forgive me, ZOOORRRRRRRAAAAMMMM!!! You're right. That was fun.

This website still works with my Amiga web browsers.
I don't see the need for a new more sofisticated replacement.
