Well of course my old friend from thousands of years ago. Your acquaintance is welcome to a free elegant hardback edition of the book as well.

@DiscreetFX

I think you should auction them off to keep David Pleasance in eggnog and stamps through the winter season!

Maybe then he'll get around to finishing and shipping volume 2 and now 3 before the next pandemic, war or British Prime Minister happens!

@BigD

We will be giving away Vol 2 & 3 as well once they are released. I don’t know what’s more dramatic, Dante’s Divine Comedy trilogy or the From Vultures to Vampires trilogy. I’m wondering if it’s going to be a thicker 3 volume set than the Lord of the Rings books?

@DiscreetFX

I have to say, I love VR, it provided some of the best gaming experiences I had in the last 5 years.

If you have not tried Half Life Aylx, Elite Dangerous or Lone Echo 1 or 2 then I get why you may think it is nothing but a short bit of fun. Most people have only really tried Quest or them mobile phone headsets and although the Quest is pretty impressive in what it offer, it has nothing to what PC VR and high end VR can offer.

I think the idea of the meta verse is basically the film, Ready Player One, where nowhere near that future yet, but I’ve seen a glimpse of it in these games. I think that future is possible. (But I dont want a mega lore Facebook in charge), I hope an open source and free world wins out.

One fun experience I had was in Big Screen VR, basically a cinema app, where you can watch film and events with different people around the world. I watched a live Rocket launch on it with an American to the left of me and an Australian to the right of me, a triply experience knowing three people around the world had come together in a VR world to watch a rocket and we all enjoyed it. It was much more impactful than being in a chat room with these people.

So I can see why it could be a possible future format, we had Books, Radio, TV, Gaming, Internet, and I do think VR is the next format. I think thats why Meta/Facebook is willing to pour Billions into it.

@amigang

If I tried it I would probably go with something from Valve or the NVIDIA Omniverse. I don’t really like the idea of Facebook now called Meta sucking up all my data. Also, The Lord Marshall keeps insisting that the Underverse is the best solution and looks just like reality. I also tried the Amiga VR based arcade machines in Atalanta in 1994. So I guess I was ahead of the game a little bit on that one.

@DiscreetFX @amigang

I don't have a Meta headset to try the Metaverse.

I used to have a HTC Vive, but I sold it earlier this year as I don't have the time to use it.
As @amigang says, there are many amazing games and experiences in VR. It's astounding how little it takes to trick our brains.

I held onto my PSVR + PS4 Pro for the occasional Beat Saber exercise session, and I'll most likely get PSVR 2 sometime in 2023. Have to get the highly elusive (retail) PS5 Digital Edition first.
Two years after the initial "release", the Blu-Ray Edition has just started to be available at local retailers, in restricted quantities.

@agami

I just grabbed a PS5 last week and will probably buy the new VR headset for it when it comes out next year. I’m not against VR, just don’t want to be a tiny pawn in the Metaverse. I never signed up for Facebook and still don’t plan to. Before anyone takes this serious, it’s a joke.

Metaverse VR - blaah - a bad copy of the Commodore 64 oculus (VR 64) released in 2017.

@thread

The news is just in. Donald Trump has picked Mark Zuckerberg for his Vice in 2024! Who’s voting the Trump/Zuck ticket? I’m not endorsing anyone by the way, I’ve never voted. Too busy working lots of hours. I’m just joking of course. I hope no one takes it too serious.

Anyone up for a death match of Sword Art Online? Mega?

Oculus co-founder makes a VR headset that can literally kill you
