I collaborated with JPV RNO for the development of RNOPublisher, RNOArchive and RNOTunes I asked to develop this software for all amiga and NG systems by making donations, now I have opened my own patreon as a collaborator and supporter, I hope that the software produced up to now is to your liking in the future there will be more if you want to make a donation is welcome

Enjoy!!

@amiwell

Can anything be done to strip away unused bloat from compiled Hollywood applications? I mean, the binaries are huge, and for no obvious reason?

@kolla

I assume it's a statically linked runtime?

@Karlos

Statically linked with an absurd amount of garbage that is never used… these binaries are larger than the OS.

Look at this, just a simple small program to create lha archives - nothing fancy:

http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/LHArchiver

2627944 bytes - or 2.5 MB (!!) for the 68k binary… it’s absurd!

Hmm, that makes C++ bloat seem small. I remember using all kinds of hacks to reduce that back in the gcc 2.95 days. For example, one such was deliberately calling functions with C linkage that throw a desired exception rather than doing it in place, in order to restrict the points at which exception state restore points are emitted in the compiled binary. As nuts as it sounds, it saved a significant amount for 68K. There were various others but I've largely forgotten.

No. Smallest sized Hollywood executable (as an example Hello World), would take 2 Mb+ of space, and space demand increases with every new version released.

It is because there is virtual machine, compiler, or something like that attached to every Hollywood executable.

Only way to get smaller sized Hollywood programs is by installing Hollywood interpreter/compiler/what ever it is called, and then run Hollywood applets.

In this case Applet would be executed using this Hollywood interpreter, in which case installed interpreter would take that 2 Mb of space (I assume), and Hello World only some bytes/kbs.
