While celebrating 2nd X-mas day (it is Dutch custom and tradition to take 2 days for proper celebrating, just like Easter and Pentecost btw), I thought it a good moment to reflect on what monitor resolutions are CURRENTLY in use.

When you use a resolution not listed, just make a post.

i don't like much under 1080 these days but if it's up close and personal, 2k/4k is my pick.

2560 x 1440. Mac Mini M1 with an Apple Thunderbolt 27" display.

Notebook: 1366x768

2560×1600 on X1000/Radeon HD 6670, X5000/40 with Radeon RX560 (and on PC with Radeon RX 550, dual booting Win 7 Pro and Debian 11) via KVM switch.

1600×1200 on Sam440ep and on Sam460ex with Radeon HD 5450 (IIRC) via KVM switch.

1280×1024 on A1200/BPPC/BVision.

All Amigas running OS4.1FEu2 (and latest beta).

1920x1080 on mac mini MorphOS. The displays of the Powerbook and iMac G5 both have lower native resolutions.

It's a CRT so it adjusts to whatever is thrown at it! For AmigaOS 3.9 I tend to use 1024 by 768 I think. 800 x 600 for Napalm,TurboPrint Graphics Publisher and Pagestream 3. High Res Laced for Deluxe Paint V etc.

For non RTG Amigas in AGA with FastRam and an accelerator High Res with 32 colours is nice! That's 640×256 in PAL.

On my X1000 I use 1920x1080 FullHD resolution which is like a minimum these days.

On my laptop it has a smaller 1366x768 resolution.

A number of years ago 1920x1080 was my new years resolution and I haven't completed one since.

i use 2560 x 1600 here on a curved eizo display.
unfortunately the native resolution does not work, which is 3840 x 1600

this is with a sapphire radeon rx550 on my x5000.

i only get an error from the card when trying that resolution, like:
RadeonRX (0): atombios stuck in loop for more than 5secs aborting

i was in contact with hans already and the result was that the code on the graphics
card's rom is getting stuck. and this cannot be "fixed" by the software.
bad luck.
on linux machines it sometime helps to raise (or disable) the power management. unfortunately it does not help here.

anyone having such a resolution up and running?
maybe another card could help. i really would like to use the max resolution :(

That's unfortunate!
I was planning to go 3840 x 1440/1600 in 2023 for my x5k from my current 1920 x 1200.

Is there any card (and driver!) available that enables these resolutions?

i'd be interested also.
i think aboput bying another rx card (other manufactor at least) to check if this also is true for that one. but i need to find a used and cheap one on ebay first.

1440p on a X5040 with RX 550.
Would like to try 4K, but that is not possible since 4.1FE graphics.library update.

A1200 runs on 640 x 256 on a 1084S.

it's an Eizo EV3895.

unfortunately it has another problem. the internal kvm switch is not supported by u-boot.
so the keyboard (and mouse connected to the monitor usb ports) is not recognized by u-boot. i need this as i also have my working laptop connected to it. so i can easily switch.
for u-boot i need to connect the keyboard directly or use another one.
under aos 4 everything is fine!

3820 x 2160 with FreeSync/GSync LG monitor for the PC.

Amiga 500 with PiStorm-Emu68 is connected to a 15 kHz 1920x1080p capable Dell U2311H monitor.
Both RGB-to-VGA and RPI's HDMI-to-VGA output are connected to the switch box. I can connect RPI's HDMI to the Dell monitor's DVI-D and use Dell's input source switch function. PiStorm-Emu68's P96 RTG resolution is set at 1280x720p.

Amiga 1200's RGB is connected to a Dell U2410 monitor's VGA port.

I still have an old Commodore 1084S CRT monitor with a broken switch from the Amiga 500 setup.
