| I'm trying to get to run Arx Fatalis (Arx Libertatis 1.2 port by BSzili) on Pegasos 2 G4 1266 MHz, 1 GB RAM, Radeon 9250 128 MB.
There seems to be some issue with cinematics: When the game starts and tries to load an intro cinematic, the cinematic doesn't appear and Grim Reaper opens with a DSI error. Intro can be skipped, but the same issue prevents start of the game proper (tries to load another cinematic...).
I digged somewhat deeper: 1) I extracted game files (from .pak) 2) The files controlling in-game cinematics (.cin) expect respective .tga files at the "\\Arkaneserver\public\ARX\Graph\interface\illustrations\illust\" location 3) When I edit this path to "\\Graph\interface\illustrations\illust\" (via hexeditor HxD), the cinematics work now and I can get into the game.
I completed the very first level (prison), but when I click on the stairs icon to get to another level, DSI appears. This is probably another problem not related to cinematics as the console output shows no attempt to load a cinematic.
Was anyone able to play Arx Fatalis/Arx Libertatis on OS4? Is there any solution to these issues? (Any brave coder to fix this? ) |

That’s what happens when, people don’t test their programs under memory protection, out of bounds bugs they are common. but it can also be caused by bad pointers, bad initiation code, etc.
If want to report a problem, you can disable the JIT by blacklisting the program, this will give better bug reports, when debugging 680x0 programs. The RS232 debug out might give better info, then the normal Grim Repair output.
I can’t say anything more about it, (unless I worked on it.)
