@x303

png icons never worked with icon.library of any OS3, that they used to work for you indicate that you had PeterK’s iconlib46 installed, and now it got overwritten. You find the icon.library you want on aminet, search for iconlib, 46.4.568 now iirc.

@kolla

They don't work on OS4 either without a 3rd party module.

People shouldn't be using PNG icons on AmigaOS!

@Chris_Y

It depends, if you have an OS3 RTG, allore DualPNG Icons make a difference, GlowIcons or worse the old Amiga iCones on an RTG screen are a horror.

Take a look at my OS 3.2.2 RTG attached, the DualPNG icons I created (they are the ones I use on my Distro AROS One):

@all

Some people are having issues with OS 3.2.2 version of TextEdit. As long as the mouse pointer/cursor is inside the TextEdit window, it is sluggish and jerky as you move the pointer in the TextEditor window.
Most noticeable on real Amigas operating at 7 MHz.

I didn't see this because I had CPU speed set to max in my emulation.

When I set the speed to real to simulate a speed of 7 MHz, I see the issue.

As per a video from 10MARC, someone has found a temp fix.

Replace the OS3.2.2 layout.gadget with the one from OS3.2.1.

Confirmed. Temp fix works for me at 7 MHz CPU speed.

I already have it for many moons.
But it still would be nice if they could include the icon lib from peterk in amigaos, so you could use png icons right out of the box.

The problem with my non working 'sh configure' scripts is in ram-handler.
When I swap that for the 3.2.1 one, it works fine again/

@Chris_Y

Indeed. Seriously, I’ve been puzzled for almost 30 years why icons aren’t just 2 frame anim brushes.

“Modern” Amiga incarnations should use SVG icons.

PetetK doesn’t allow for his code to be added to commercial products anyhow, so that’s futile. Besides, his is asm and AmigaOS’ is C.

Interesting that old ported *ix cruft stumbles with the new ram handler.

I still haven’t gotten any good answers as to how links from ram: are supposed to behave, whether ram:env is “magical” and treated differently or if all links are supposed to behave like env:

Well, this is actually a general problem with this development branch, it all seems ad-hoc, features become bugs, bugs become features, correct expected behavior is defined as we go, and frequently not documented.

@mac6

I'd love to know of the changes to the RAM: handler.
I just got reminded how the Amiga RAM: device, is not formatted. It just dynamically expands or contracts using only as much RAM as it needs or, your Amiga computer has, however, because it is implemented as a file system, and not a device driver, it’s fully dynamic.
It uses no hard sectors like a physically organized device so, small files aren’t wasting 512 bytes a chunk, like a disk block would.
I love how it's always present on every boot. It was a really missed feature when I had to move OS's however, things like "imdisktoolkit" now do a similar job, they still need to be told, how much RAM to allocate before they work.
I wonder what they found wrong with the thing. It always seemd to work fine.

I applied Hotfix 3.2.2.1 to my AmigaOS 3.2 emulation.

My issues with TextEdit are resolved.
