This really is a religion for some people isn't it? It's just nonsense though really. It's all sand/silica processed and etched into usable waffers! I liked the Cell because it allowed me to play The Last of Us on my late life PS3 but beyond that I have no shrine to the Cell in my home!

There's really a very simple test that works well for determining how alive any CPU platform is:
Can I go and buy a new desktop or laptop machine based on it at a sensible price? Is it still manufactured and supported? Is software, available for it? Does it have a thriving community?
There are echoes of these in PPC. You get new hardware about as often as Mars gets floods and there are enthusiasts still doing stuff with it. It's "alive" as a retro platform generally, but only just.
