Deadwood has released a new NVIDIA driver for AROS 64-bit, based on the open-source nouveau + Mesa stack, which provides full 2D and 3D (OpenGL 4.6) acceleration on GeForce cards ranging from the 8 series (Tesla) to the 900 series (Maxwell).

This is the biggest leap forward in graphics for AROS in years - the system now features a smooth desktop, a modern 3D API, and support for a wide range of PCIe cards. It also marks a milestone in the system’s full transition from 32-bit to 64-bit, as modern 3D drivers were the missing piece of this migration.

Nice too see the 3d being accelerated, but I'd rather see some emphasis on the 2D part of it

Very nice. Are the ASUS P8Z68-V LX or Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 motherboards the best options for Aros 64bit? That's what Google says, anyways. I'd like to build out an Aros 64bit system and go from VM to physical.

2D performance on the new driver is 2–3 times faster (depending on the benchmark used) than on the standard VESA driver

Yes, the ASUS P8Z68-V LX is a very good choice. Everything works on this motherboard (audio, LAN) without the need for additional cards. I ran the games shown in the video above on this motherboard :) (with an NVIDIA graphics card, of course)

Depends on what you want I guess. Theyre very old though and much, much newer stuff works fine as well.
I tend to use either z170/z270 or z370/z390 boards with a k series cpu. For AROS something like an i3-7350k of i3 9350k are good choices. They reach great clock speeds, use ddr4 RAM for decent ram bandwidth, are overclockable, cheap and given the single core nature of AROS youre not wasting money on excessive unused cores. Having pci express 3.0 is a big advantage to 2.0 (used on these boards) as well.
The hardware databases online are pretty bad in regards to AROS. In my experience probably %50+ of boards are fine. Runs fine on my ryzen 9 5900x system when I tried "just for fun", although Ive had trouble running it on some 12th/13th/14th gen Intel. Was fine on my i9-13900k/z790 though.
Personally Id go for somewhere between 7th and 9th gen. Price wise cost next to nothing and they still have decent single thread performance with some more modern "nice-ities"
