I tried to no success. I also replaced the battery with the one I had on an Accelerator for A1200 (CR2032 as well)... No success. The screen stays black. I wonder if the cpu didn't burn... But if this is the case, I really wonder how !

Hello and sorry for being so silent, i am in the process of moving to my own flat and my parents home is being rebuild, so i have no internet connection these days.
About the CD's i've replied to you via e-mail.
Please check these things:
1-. attach a null modem cable to the A1 and another machine using a terminal program serial baudrate must be 115200 don't remember the other config. If the battery is wrong there might be some output too,
2.-.Check that ram, cpu, gfx card are all correctly seated, shipment might let some parts a little out of its place.Especially AGP cards need a little more pushing, you will notice that the back of the agp connector you can see the pins a little out if its not well fitted.
3-.There might be someone near your zone with another A1 that could know how to check better.

any chance of you talking to anyone close by that has an a1 or whatever, they might have a nullmodem cable.
also it might just be the gfx card that needs a refit , try to move it abit back and forth (be sure that power IS off) , might just be off a little, noticed the same problem on my a1.
Give it a GOOD SQUEEZE
since its not the battery then try the nullmodem cable solution.

| @Toaks, Ami603,
Using a Null Modem cable, I received one char output (different according to the speed selected), but ONLY if the speed is set between 1200 and 9600. This char appears as soon as I switch ON or sometime it's when I switch it off that it appears...
I took off all the cards, but with the same results. I put them back in... No changes.

| @ Jerry .Your welcome to bring your A1 round my place this saturday.
You know where I live, you bought my siamese stuff off me.. I suspect you used the siamese cable for the null modem lead.
I'm no experet by far.. But I have a KVM we can connect your machine to and be connected to IRC on mine. Hopefully we can get some live help from people... Hint Hint ..RIGO (hehe)
If your graphics card has fried (dunno how) my mate has just removed a aTi 7500 from his system.. perhaps he can flog you that cheap ?
maybe we could copy my drive config.
Something for you to try in the meantime..
Set your jumpers on your boot drive to MASTER (primary) Make sure your boot drive is attached to the connector on the very END of the cable.
Set your cdrom up on secondary Slave as master.
You didn't say whether you have a Sil card installed or not.

No SIL installed. Quote:

That was the first thing I tried when the HardDisk didn't want to "AutoMount". After that I tried every various connection I could think Off. And when the Monitor went black, I removed all IDE, and take off even the Gfx, then re-plugged it with no success.
One of the last thing I saw on the screen was something telling me about a wrong ELF image. And when I typed "diskboot" + [Enter], received the message "Bad Magic Number". Already before when I typed Diskboot, sometimes it didn't do anything, sometimes, it tried to boot (certainly depending of the value of boot1. BUT from the moment I received this last messages and reboot (warm followed by cold), the screen went black...
I just hope it's not the cpu, and that if it's the ROM, that it can be fixed easily.
I should know by Wednesday my availability for this Saturday and I will let you know.
Thanks everyone for your help. THAT is certainly not something we could see in the PC World ! It's why I appreciate so much the Amiga Community !

@Jerryuk007
i have had the same problem and i have no explanation how i fixed it but what joerg said is probably correct.
try this..
remove the drive info in MTB (ALL) and start from scratch , install the drive (from the mtb menu , then the slb) , reboot after u saved..
go into mtb again and set up partisions , address the whole drive from first sector to the last one (in ie..3 partisions) , set it up with filesystems and minimalistic block size etc.
save and reboot
does it pop up then? ...if so... then try and set it up as you wanted it.
i did something like this.... sadly i have no real explanation.
|
Remove drive info in MTB (ALL), install the drive from scratch, partitioning to first sector last one with filesystems. Save changes and reboot if problem persists try again setting up as desired. No clear fix but following these steps helped without an exact explanation. |
