SEAL have a selection of pictures (14) from the MicroMart Fair, where there were two AmigaOne's running an Alpha version of Amiga OS4.

http://www.seal-amiga.co.uk

Really an enjoyable experience, looking forward to Bath show on 13th December

I made this page with PhotoAlbum (and some hand editing) rather than PhotoFolio so it does have a different structure. This time all the images are in the same directory as the HTML page.

As I've said you're the only person who has reported problems with the other pages so I don't know what's wrong, they work fine for me in Amiga and PC browsers and from home and work :(

Robert

It seems like the two MicroA1's uses different graphics chips, or is it an outsourced ATI chip made by another manufacturer? Does ATI do that?

Compare them yourselfe if you like.

I think they are both ati, one's just got a radeon flash on the top i Think the other just says ATI. Doesn't mean they both aren't radeon tho.

It must be one of these:

http://www.plasma-online.de/index.html?content=http%3A//www.plasma-online.de/english/identify/picture/ati.html

-edit-
ah damn, the link always takes you to the frontpage. Nevermind, you can find it via the "id hardware" and "by manufacturer" in the left frame.

The stand looked quite professional. I think it is great and important work ppl are doing showing OS4 to the public (mick, jurassic camper, ...)

Personally though, i would never show an alpha version to the general public. People who don't follow the amiga scene will see a product that crashes still quite often, or in this case which doesn't boot up fast (due to config error or something), and a graphics system that is still slow.

We know the reasons behind this (graphics.library, JIT,...) because we follow it here on Amiga sites, but these people don't know that. And their impression will stay in their mind.

I would have waited until is was beta, with a decent graphics system and JIT in place.

Still, respect for the great work.

@ z5

"The stand looked quite professional. I think it is great and important work ppl are doing showing OS4 to the public (mick, jurassic camper"

The stand was very professional wasn't it? That was due to Sven Harvey (Stellar Dreams) and his close ties to MicroMart magazine. And it is an honour to show OS4 to the public

"Personally though, i would never show an alpha version to the general public. People who don't follow the amiga scene will see a product that crashes still quite often, or in this case which doesn't boot up fast (due to config error or something), and a graphics system that is still slow."

It doesn't crash all that often actually, some programs (with known probs) do produce the "Grim Reaper" but click on "Kill" and carry on as normal. The booting time is related to debug info being sent out to the serial device AFAIK, if you select "Reboot" from the Grim Reaper it boots in seconds. And I can tell you even though it is 68k emulation the screen draws and window redraws are faster than my PC (2.4Ghz AMD) running XP Pro

"And their impression will stay in their mind."

Yes you are right, and that WAS........ Oh wow, that was fast!

"Still, respect for the great work."

Thanks, just showing people it really exists and works, trying to do justice to all the hard work being put in by the developers.... who are very busy chaps

If you're talking about the captions on the SEAL website, I wrote them and I thought AmigaOne lite was the correct name. The boards shown were mini-ITX size (170mm square).

If I'm wrong could someone point me to a reference and I'll correct the page.

Robert

@ rhino

The AmigaOne Lite is now being called MircoA1 by Eyeteh. For instance look at question 5 of AmigaWorld's recent interview with Alan Redhouse.

Thanks, I'll correct the report when I get the chance.

Strikes me that things will get a bit confusing if the MicroATX A1 comes out.

Robert
