No one promised. I repeat again, we promised to do whatever we can, but that is it. Under the given circumstances, it just didn't work out.

Hey and sorry for the speculation........It was sort of meant to calm down myself

Ah, of course. I'm sure you'll fix it, but don't work too hard over Christmas . It's far better to have a working product late, than a non-working one early.

Chris

Why? What happened?

Nothing sinister, just that without the prerelease ready and the hunt for the problem within uboot, just means that the guys at Hyperion will be doing what they usually do rest of the year....................... working overtime!

Make sure you find time to from time to time and keep your spirits up!

We're all in there rooting for you!

Yeah, we got graphics library mostly converted to C (some asm remains) and compiled to PowerPC. Picasso96 is being tackled now.

Great. Good tackling with it and with the (little ?) trouble with AmigaOne hardware. Merry Christmas to you and all involved.

No, it doesn't. It was a close call, it just didn't make it for christmas.

Considering it is a pre-release of OS4, what else can delay it other than OS4 itself?

Among other things, the firmware.

Booting OS 4 requires an updated firmware. We've since upgraded to U-Boot 1.0.0 (the latest official build), and it works for almost all of us but there had been issues. Hard to track issues. In one case the machine does crash immediately after bootup, in other cases it ran for a few hours and then started to behave strangely.

We're tracking this right now; it might have been dismissed if it had been on only one machine, but it wasn't. We can't give out a firmware update if we're not sure it will work, and OS 4 will require the new firmware, so it's a chicken-and-egg situation.

There where other things as well that didn't get finished, also because the firmware issue took so long.

Nothing, it's just that things need to be sorted out. The firmware issue is taking time to fix.

Lurking in the background, that's me Hi all... first posts are difficult - I've been lurking for a few months getting a feel for the new Amiga situation.

I think we're going to see a lot of developers coming out of the woodwork. Developers who had previously stepped away from the Amiga for a few years coming back once the hardware-OS combo is finally here and in their hands.

Let's hope so anyway!

Welcome Matt_F. Say, that Terragen looks really cool... I think that would be a welcome app for OS4 and the AmigaOne.

@The_Editor and Herewegoagain:

Cheers Yeah.. Terragen started on the Amiga a long time ago (nothing worth releasing though), and it would be nice to bring it back now.

It's great to be a part of the community.
