The AmigaOne XE G4 features Integrated VIA 686B ATA100 controller with 2x 44 way headers?

Great idea Micro A1 certainly compares well against the original ATX board for the money.

@ikir, RussellB

Those models have been discontinued. The page explains what it's for :)

One could however set up a similar page with all the discontinued models on it.

Hi,

The only problem I can find is the text "Useful stuff" is not easy to understand what it is about. I would prefer something like "AmigaOne serie listing".

@elwood

DaveyD's choice. I think the idea was to have a general category for all kinds of interesting stuff rather than having a new category for every new item. PM him if you think it should be done in some other way.

Uhm, are you really saying the A1 XE G3 is discontinued? How? The CPU module is still used on the µA1-C and the motherboard is still used in the A1 XE G3. So which part is discontinued? If Eyetech are refusing to ship µA1s with G4 or XEs with G3 then they don't deserve ANY credit. That's just ####ed up.

Half the point behind having a CPU on a daughter card is to have options. If there's NO options then why not save the money and solder it directly on?

@olegil

I'd say the default combination of AmigaOne XE G3, ie a separate product labeled AmigaOne XE G3, is discontinued not the modules by themselves. Perhaps someone will sell other combinations, but the list is just built around eyetechs product announcement. I'm sure people are clever enough to see what the specs would be if the CPU modules are moved around. It seems a bit pointless to have extra columns just for that. I mean, it clearly states which models have the megaarray or not.

And, if you want a discussion (if you don't then just ignore this) about whether Eyetech is doing the right thing or not then please take that into some other news item or thread. I'd rather get feedback on the list here. I may have my opinions about what eyetech is doing but this list is just about providing information about the platforms eyetech are speaking about and it's not the right place to bring up my opinion about it.

Excuse me for my ignorance and bringing it up despite the warning, but nowhere I read that the XEG3 is discontinued. Could you provide us with an URL and maybe a snippet of text what to look for?

@ warface

in the Two new µ-A1's models on the way! newsitem ... "Additional A1XE-G4 boards to be made available" ... nothing about A1XE-G3 ... think that is why he did not include it.

I've read that too, but there is not a word about the XEG3 being discontinued. There is a whole world between something being discontinued or temporarily not manufactured.

@hnl_dk

Indeed, that's just my interpretation of it. Ie, that the only products (Ie prepackaged and labeled mobo+cpumodules etc) that will be produced from now on are those mentioned in the pressrelease. XE with a G4, uA1C with G3, uA1I with onboard G3 and if the sales of uA1 permits it a future A1 XC.

I could email them and ask if they intended something else.

[edit: email sent]

(Is it just me or does amigans seem a bit edgy these days? Chill out, the world isn't ending (yet))

No problems at all, but discontinued sounded a little bit strong.

I think it'd worth including the XEG3 in the table, if it turns out to be not discontinued, as it provides a better comparison between XE and microA1, than a G4 XE and a G3 microA1.

The worst thing about the newsitem is the problem that I'm not going to get an AmigaOne untill november

Nice work.
But could you include EURO and US Dollars prices? I know these changes daily but I think the UK pounds will not stay forever like that.
