From the official AWeb Open Source Project website: "Updated AWeb APL Lite 3.5 beta release 4 with many bugfixes is available now for 68k with changelog, and for OS4 native PPC with changelog."

What "history" are you trying to delete? AWeb doesn't have a history as such, there the window history which is volatile (ie quit aweb and you lose it) or the cache, Cache items can be delete en masse from the cache menu or individialy from the cache browser.

The address bar is a standard reaction gadget, so perhaps you have done something odd to your screen palette.
Do any other gadgets appear this way?
AS to the "place keepers" if you have square about a centimeter in size in place of images, then something is wrong with your image decoder settings, goto browsers settings/viewers, if they are little rectangles in the text then something is wrong with your fonts.
