Question:

Do you plan to produce a notebook/laptop version of AmigaOne?

What all form-factors is Eyetech interested in developing or re-implementing from Teron reference designs?

Is there business potential for other interested parties, other than ACK's classic accelerators announced here recently, to develop additional form-factor implementations not on Eyetech's own to-do list? How might one contact the appropriate people to discuss new design propositions, and would chipsets from vendors other than MAI Logic be welcome, or are we explicitly in Articia-only land now?

Questions submitted by Polish Amiga Portal readers:

1. Is it planned that fixed AmigaONE XE will be available for purchase? If not, is Eyetech going to sell only small Amigas or is going to introduce the next model of AmigaOne - AmigaOne XC?

2. Is Eyetech going to introduce CPU modules based on G4 1.3 MHz or faster available for AmigaOne/MicroA1? How much would it cost?

3. After AmigaOS 4.0 being available is Eyetech planning to cut down the price of AmigaOne/MicroA1?

4. Are there any plans (eg. after the official release of AmigaOS 4.0) to introduce some new lines of AmigaOne mainboards which will be more "up-to-date" concerning USB 2.0 and ATA 133?

5. In case of AmigaOne SE and XE Eyetech uses the brand "Amiga" in its name. In case of MicroA1 it is rather ommited or avoided. The same thing becomes more and more popular among the dealers (eg. Vesalia). The question: Did Eyetech receive the rights to use the brand name "Amiga" in case of MicroA1-I and MicroA1-C? If so, is this license fee paid? Does Eyetech have the rights to use the name MicroAmigaOne or MicroAmiga1 or any else which covers the brand name for the MicroA1 model?

I have some questions for Alan:

1 - To have my A1XE fixed, I have to pay 50 euro, send it far away, wait for an unknown amount of time, and it'll probably get damaged or stolen during shipping. I can probably get it fixed it myself if knew exactly what was wrong with it, so why does Eyetech refuse to reveal information about the bugfix for the XE boards?

2 - We want new A1 mainboards and CPU modules. What new AmigaOne hardware will be available in the near future?

kind regards,

Dennis

I didn't read the thread so I'm sorry if it has been asked already.

- Do you do/plan something to port other linux distros on the A1 ?

Hi Alan, how are you?

Er.. does that count as one of my questions?

Can I take it back, then?

What do you mean "17 questions remaining"??

More seriously..

- I tend to compare the uA1 to the early "home desktop" Amigas - A500, A600, A1200. Do you agree there is a market for a more expandable Amiga like the A2000, A3000 etc? If so, are there plans to release a product to satisfy this area of the market and can you give us some hints on what we might expect?

- I was once told that the band Kiss often saw themselves as more than a band- they were a bRand. Given that the Amiga holds fond memories for many people, are there any plans to exploit the Amiga brand? I'm not just talking keyboards and mice (hey, I'd use an Amiga branded keyboard on my PC, given a choice!) but more generically - official T-Shirts, case badges, hats etc.

For those that are unable to get a real A1, how about an A1 keyboard and a hat! It allows people to 'keep the faith' until finances or circumstances allow a real, shiny new AmigaOne!

Hello Mr Alan Redhouse

Here my question:

What do you think about this Mother Board ?

Do you think that this MoBo could be a good alternative to the Teron's Mai Logic card for the next AmigaOne?

This question might apply more to Hyperion and Amiga Inc.

What do you think of IBMs' CELL Processor? Do you think it might make a good target for Amigas future hardware and OS developement?

(Forgive me if this has already been posted. I'm too lazy to read all the previous posts! )

Will there be an official AmigaOne XE/SE board fix for the USB/DMA problems, or is each user responsible for getting the repairs done on their own?

my questions (but think that some already has been asked):

-Have you intention to sell complete systems or will sell only motherboars so that third parts build the complete systems?

-Any plan to produce Amiga specific PCI cards (like bridgeboards, Amiga disk controller..........etc)?

-What type of relation has Eyetech with Mai logic?can Eyetech say to Mai what to produce or eyetech only can buy what Mai makes and rebranded it as Amiga?

-Are you going to make Amiga custom cases, keyboards and mices?

-what do you think about the possibility of made CPU accelerators for AmigaONE (or classic Amigas) in the form of PCI cards like the sonnet cards for powermacs?

My question for Alan would be:

If you haven't already, please read this post...

Could you comment on it?

(I know the post brings up more than one question but they have to be asked).

Getting an A1 repair without having to send it over half of Europe would be nice. Gurumeditation has set up a repair shop so why can't they become an official one so that we customers has some security/warranty from getting our A1's ruined? Buying a new A1 at the current price point is simply out of the question, and ending up without an Amiga would mean no point in staying in the community.

I was going to get some snapshots of mplayer for os4depot. But there was no way to transfer larger files to the A1. If I transfered over ftp to my harddrive I get read/write errors on the harddrive (using a sil card with dma on). And if I transfer to ram: the onboard ethernet dies after 100Mb or so freezing up any transfers over the device. So buying replacement cards is clearly no solution at all.

Do the official rework places offer warranty for what is done (themselves or via Eyetech), or do they carry the warning disclaimer as well?

What steps will Eyetech be taking to ensure that future models (like the XC) will not have any serious bugs?

Question: Are you considering going with a different northbridge at all, considering ArticiaP is taking ages to be finished, and is already obselete?
