Events   Events : Final Reminder for Scunthorpe Amiga Gathering 2005
posted by Ryu on 30-Mar-2005 12:23:44 (5121 reads)
The show takes place THIS SATURDAY just outside of Scunthorpe, UK.

Some highlights of the day:

Somewhere in the order of 20 machines on display including a microA1 and a classic Amiga running OS4.
At least 2 machines running AROS.
Private bar with reasonable prices.
Raffle with prizes worth over £100.
After show meal.

I'm expecting the turnout to be 20+ with people coming from as far as Norway.

Thanks, I hope the turnouts good too... Initial reaction of people telling me they are coming is good.. But then theres always those that say they will come but fail to turn up

As the show gets closer and closer I get more nervous and stressed

@Ryu

I'll be there, do I need to pick up the Norwegian fella from Stansted?

Nah, his flights earlier than he had originally booked thankfully so he can catch the train from stansted to peterborough then to doncaster and then on to scunthorpe

Still I'll have to get up at 5am on the Monday morning because he has to catch the 5:55am train from here to make it back to Stansted in time for his 11am flight home.

heh I am very near 2 airports, and theres a further 2 within easy reach. Unfortunatly none of them offer the dead cheap flights out to Norway that Stansted offers :P

Youd have to fly to Amsterdam then fly on to either Humberside or Doncaster Airport to land at an airport close to here..

Even the bigger airports that are within easy reach like leeds/bradford and manchester dont offer budget flights out to norway...

I know exactly how you feel, I organised 3 shows, SEAL-O-RAMA in 2000, WoASE 2001 and WoASE 2002. Thats 3 years on the trot!

I cannot make it myself unfortunately (working nights) but if anyone who is going could write a small "show report" and submit it to Total Amiga magazine that would be much appreciated

The issue in current development will be going to the printers within the next few days if all goes well. But to coin a phrase

Would have been so nice to see a classic version of OS4.

Any news on that front ? or is everything classic only features on ice until final A1 version ?

@ ryu

We too had lots of people promising to come for BB2 including shops and dealers that just never turned even after promising to come.
It was a miracle we broken even. I think we was a few quid down about £2 in all.
Best of luck mate, looking forward to a report.
See you at BB3, may be you'll be a winner 3rd time.

It's always the same. We done really well with SEAL-O-RAMA in 2000, with 100 people turning up, now bad for a small show run by (then) unknowns! Then we stepped up a gear with World of Amiga South East in 2001 and had a massive 376 paying punters turn up, many from overseas, but the following year it was 100 people less. I think this just reflects the size of the Amiga community now days

I think the lack of a news stand publication hinders show turnouts too... the weekly page in micromart is all good and well but its not the same as an Amiga magazine on the shelves.

Can't do much about that, we (Total Amiga) are trying our best to fill the gap
