Thumbnail viewer for PicShow.

It will show all pictures in a directory as thumbnails. A double click on a thumbnail will start a utility (e.g. PicShow).

that's what I was wondering, too.

I downloaded this file and am planning on examining this with the previous to see if there are differences.

I do like this with the Thumb files. although for somereason I can't get it to open from a default dir. (using this on WinUAE)

I have tried both the WOS and PUP PicShow files. It works really well
and is a worthy replacement for my current favourite Amiga viewer
MysticView.

I haven't tried Thumbs yet, but I'll get around to it a little later.
This is as close to IrfanView on the PC that an Amiga viewer has come.

Yes both picshow and thumb works on my os4 with update2.

Picshow always worked nice for me both on classic and
os4. Now thumbnail is what i missed and i can only say
its totally cool :)

I have no time to check now but you can always see what
external libraries it needs and install them.
Maybe render.library and guigfx.library or maybe it was
some other program that used this ones ?
Check on aminet and os4 for the stuff you need and install
the one that there hopefully is for os4. For others
do use 68k

Doesn't work for me neither on my AOne, and yet all the other tooltypes seem to work ok? Tried to give full path names but that doesn't make any diff.

Nice utility, thanks. I intergrated it to the ContextMenu -program under "view by". Now I can choose from pop-up menu to view files by icon, name, date, size, type and thumbnail. :)

If I may ask, how did you do that? that's a feature of Windows I really miss on OS4 and I'm very glad that there's a way to do it! but how?

@CodeSmith

Install ContextMenus if you don't have it already (can be found on os4pr-cd IIRC)

Open ENVARC:ContextMenu.cfg with text editor. Search for this line:
Directory,Type,PM_INVOKEWB,WINDOW.VIEWBY.TYPE

after that, add this line:
Directory,Thumbnail,CLI,SYS:Programs/Thumb/Thumb %f UTILITY=os4:programs/mysticview/mysticview %s

Of course, you need to change paths to right ones :)

If you don't find file called ContextMenus.cfg, check this thread:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=9314&forum=14

After reboot you can view files as thumbnails (in their own window) by selecting option from pop-up menu.

@densho:

I had ContextMenus installed, but I didn't know about the config file, thanks for telling me about that! I was looking over the sample config file, and I hadn't realized how much better ContextMenus is than Windows XP's context menus! In XP, menus only know about files and directories; that's it. Context menus seems to somehow tie in to the DefIcons system (or it's got its own data sniffer) and you can actually set up type-specific menu options. That is just way too cool.

[smug]Of course, this is the sort of stuff one normally expects in an amiga program[/smug]

Actually I don't know why this news appears here at this time. The last verson of Thumb is from January indeed.

See above. I didn't change anything since January. Your catalogs will be contained in the next update.

I'll look at it tonight. Perhaps you should try it completely without jpeg.library and jpeg.l.main. Wrong versions might lead to crashes. E.g. if you installed the WOS version by accident. Or is there an OS4 version yet ? The stub is only needed for the 68K version.

Also you should run SnoopDOS and send me the log of the crash.

I'll add this to the docs.

Edit: Almost forgot, the shortcut for the homepage is http://picshow.ch.to. The long URL will change soon as t-online will shut down their old homepage servers.

Bye,
Thomas

Nice program

I like the option in the menu "Project/Directory with Subdirectory". Could this option be added to when Thumb is first started from WB or when a directory is dragged and dropped on Thumbs?

Thanks,

@Kneedeep

I'd like to see little drawer icons for the sub-directories. Maybe this can be added as an option too?

PicShow and Thumb are great, great apps. it does show up that maybe it's time that Workbench was extendable in the same way opus5 or os x finder or windows explorer are.

AH!
well, ok, all is forgiven..

however, might I humbly suggest that people include version numbers and/or dates (in news items) so we know what's going on before we have a panic attack?

ok, kidding about the panic attack,
but it just might be good to know more info.

thanks! I do like this program.

I love all the options that this program offers. And I appreciate how configurable it is.

But I've got two problems:
1. Every time that I try to run PicShowTem, I get the GrimReaper.
2. When I try to configure different buttons in the Navigation Bar, I get double (the same buttons repeated twice).

Does anyone know how to get around these problems.

BTW, the Thumbs program is a really handy Dock to have.
