hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : Forefront Tech' Offers Risk-Free AmigaOne XE USB and DMA Fix
   posted by L8-X on 2-May-2005 17:41:40 (5778 reads)
Forefront Technologies is pleased to announce it now offers the AmigaOne XE USB and DMA fixes.

These hardware fixes correct USB hot plug detection and DMA lockup problems on AmigaOne XE mainboards. Forefront stands behind their work, making this the only risk-free option available to AmigaOne customers (see details). This service is FREE to customers that purchased their AmigaOne mainboards from Forefront, and only $25 for others!

Well, that and the fact that we've removed the "at the customer's risk" aspect being that we will replace or reimburse the retail cost of the board if we damage it while attempting to apply the fixes -- and that goes for anyone, Forefront customer or not.

This is great.

For people buying their board from Forefront, their remaining original warranty term will be honored by Forefront instead of Eyetech.

Should be Eyetech if you ask me. Forefront is taking over in what should not be theirs to do so. I must say that a lot of dealers amaze me by some of the stuff they do. It's not their game at all but they play it anyway.

Same here, it is very unlikely I will buy from Eyetech again.

For me it is about 0%. I just don't trust it anymore. A lot of money and a lot of uncertaincy.

Hopefully ACK (and others) will use normal (and legal) business practices.

That would be nice. I hope so and I think so too.

Hiya.

Does anyone know the details of what the fix is? Or where to get this information.

I'm not afraid of a bit of soldering if that is what it takes.

Thanks,

AARRRGGGHHH!!!! NOW you come up with this deal! After I waited 3 months and paid $100USD (ugly story) to get mine fixed & shipped! I bought my XE from you and would have had you do the fix!! What took you so long????!!!! Glad to see you are offering this service.

Documentation availability and proving our work on our own machines first.

Then what about GuruMeditation? Many of us lives in Norway or Sweden. Doesn't that mean we have to contact GuruMeditation for the fix? What is your recommendation on GuruMeditation in this situation?

And i would like to know more if the latest A1XE boards have this fix, and if they don't really need such a fix?

It's your decision who to go with. I don't know anything about GuruMeditation myself. You would likely have a faster return of your board from them compared to waiting for shipping to USA and back, that's as much as I dare guesstimate about.
