There is no need to update it now. There will for sure come a new version of UBoot
with update 3! As Alan stated, the GX bug was due to wrong cache initialization in
UBoot, which is now fixed.

Last night was a bad time to do it. We had 3 times power gone and power back (10 secs before back) but the fourth time it went and did not came back for 1 hour. Yeah I am looking forward to updating that.

@Samwel

I saw the post from Alan about the uboot fix for the GX L2 cache problem, but Hyperion hasn't indicated a newer firmware update with update#3. I'm a little confused about that.

@sundown

That's true. But then again, the GX bug fix is quite recent.

I'm quite sure though that we'll get a new update for UBoot aswell..

EDIT: I think it was EntilZha that confirmed here on AW that the bug was fixed.
But he never stated if it was an OS bug or UBoot bug. Now Alan tells us it's
an UBoot bug. No one from Hyperion has said otherwise..

AFAIK there is no need for an uboot update to use the 750gx properly.

That sounds annoying - you'll have to get a UPS to safely update UBoot.

Well, we can hope (please IBM, please!). Not sure what value of forever I'm using

Yeah, it's scary when you get that message that your old UBoot is being erased ...

And then a few moments later, it's done and you can wipe the sweat off your brow.

Awesome.

I want one. Nag nag nag. I'll just have to keep beating myself up until I've bought one.

Too bad I just spent ~500EUR on new Gant Eyewear cause I _CRACKED MY TRUSTY ARMANI'S BY LOOSING THEM ON THE FLOOR IN MY BATHROOM_. Doh. I hate my life, I hate my life, I hate my life.

@ Alan Redhouse (Eyetech)

Is this next production of Micro-AmigaOne's only for the
'amiga-enthusiast-market'?

When the answer is 'yes', maybe aw.net should start a poll about the
processor-question, like:

"Would you pay 100 Euro more for a MPC7447 1GHz+ on your
Micro-AmigaOne?"

I'm sure, the attributes 'G4' and '1GHz+' are selling better, thats
what the geeks want.

Take a minute to think about it...

Greetings, Frank (sorry for my bad english).

@lafranka

Hi, and welcome to the Amigaworld forums. Your English is just fine. Never worry about that, you will not be graded on your English or grammer (thank goodness, or I would be in trouble).

If you haven't done so already, I invite you to take the time to read our Terms and Policy and most of all, enjoy your stay here at Amigaworld.net!

@Wegster

I am happy to see your correction as regards "grammar". However, I must challenge
your spelling on the word "sheesh". (Perhaps I have an -old- dictionary)

@AmigaPhil
"if I had to choose now between a micro-A1-C and a A1-XC, I would go for the XC"

I don't think that you or anyone has to worry about that choice, because Alan has made it quite clear the A1-XC will only be produced WHEN they get a large order from industry - and reading between the lines, that could be a LONG time, if ever.

So I'd recommend buying a micro-A1-C, rather than waiting for an (effectively) non-existant product. It is much more sensible to make you choice based upon what is available now (and which is known to work well), rather on some mythical product that no-one's ever even seen. Particular in the computer market, where 'vapourware' is commonly hyped well in advance (sometimes to see if there is sufficient interest, othertimes to stop people buying a competing product that is already available, or occasionally for other reasons).
