A couple of questions:

The settings for "screens" doesn't seem to work anymore. I've deleted the settings that I had and added new ones but it doesn't seem to do much. The GUI looks as in OS 3.x even though I've choosed for it to use gui.prefs.

Couldn't get nallepuh to work. I tried adoomwos to try out the wos-wrapper and it looks for paula so.... It did however work with the -nosfx and the -nojoy arguments. It was faaaaast ... till it eventually crashed that is
Nallepuh complained about the mode not being available but it is! I've used it like this before this update.

Also the new network-driver and roadshow didn't do anything to improve the speed here. I still get 100-200kb/s just like before the update while I get 1MB/s in Linux and if I transfer files to my neighbour I get 2.6MB/s. This is through a Belkin router. Faster speeds without it in Linux/Winblows but not in OS 4.

Except for that it's working nicely, even managed to solve the gfxcard "problem" without RTFM ... have read it now though. Everything seems to be faster, printing is working nicely (allthough a bit slow) and the new prefs-programs look great. Well I haven't had the time to look through everything yet but.....

Thanks, thanks, thaaanks!

Ok, 50.2 is only for betatesters I guess? I got 50.1 from os4depot. I'll try the old version then

Sigh

Why do I have to trash my ENV settings just to boot from CD ? ( I'm trying to update firmware (March))
There is a boot from cd option with uboot, why is it there when it doesn't work ?

Its been a year since the last firmware update .. Since then The Sil card has been installed. Linux drive & Amiga drive are present.

There is NO WAY I can possibly remember the Boot Env settings that are being used now.

And my A1 -XE works brilliantly.

iirc dma is at 130 on sil.. It all works great.
Now I gotta trash all that coz the "boot from IDE CD" within Uboot doesn't work !!

I dont think so.

Please read the documentation. It shows how to reattach your gfxboard in picasso96modes to make your screenmodes work again.

@ Orgin

I'm no expert but reading the crash log it seems ahi is trying to use dos.library when it crashes.

No, the stack trace is from youngest to oldest stack frame, i.e. the crash site is at the top of the list.

native kernel module kernel+0x1e1fc (exec/Signal)
native kernel module kernel+0x1e720 (exec/PutMsg)
native kernel module kernel+0x1e848 (exec/ReplyMsg)

It crashed in Signal, being called from PutMsg, which in turn was called from ReplyMsg. The crash was because the mesage port's mp_SigTask was 0xffffffff

Unfortunately, I can't follow it anymore from there since I don't have an unstripped ahi.device. I'll try to get one and see if I can follow further from there.

BTW, the reference to dos.library at the bottom will probably be in all stack traces since that's the point where the device process was created.

Uh, because it does work here ?

Can you tell me how exactly you are trying to boot from CD ?

@chip

Was that to me? In that case I don't have a problem with screenmodes, just like I wrote.

Hi EntilZha

Interrupt start sequence.

go into Uboot prefs.

Change boot options From IDE Disk to IDE CDROM

Save & Exit

Reboot

]

ie: It hasn't booted the cd with the March Firmware update burned as ISO (make image within nero, same way i did it successfully last time ).

Reading the destructions tells me to setenv diskboot blah blah blah. SaveEnv which will obviously destroy my present boot settings within ENV.

I can't remember what they are at present so I cant return them to precisely what they are now.

@ The_Editor

Come on, tell me where exactly does the doc say "setenv diskboot" or "saveenv" ? It doesn't.

You can always diskboot without modifying env variables. If your CD-ROM is on bus 0 unit 1, a

diskboot 500000 1:0
bootm

will just boot it.

Most of all, the doc doesn't tell you to saveenv anything, except for one thing: How to make the catweasel support permanent.

Bottom line, I don't know what you've been reading there, but it definitely wasn't the update instructions _INCLUDED_ with the updater archive.
