Bad Magic Number

:(

Swapping 1:0 to 0:1 boots linux (or tries - fails coz linux was set up on internal ide and is now on Sil, this can stay like this until we do a Linux workshop at BB3)

Linux is on primary master (Sil)
Amiga is on Primary slave (Sil)

iirc .. cd is on secondary master (onboard IDE)

@ Valiant

You can reboot without problems, the installer doesn't do anything else but unpack the base archive.

As to why it happens: Don't know. It shouldn't be the case, but maybe the file was locked by something...

Well, I rebooted, but all I got was a funky low-res blue, grey, mostly white WB screen with no icons or menus. I had to reinstall updates 1 and 2, and then I was able to get update 3 to install from beginning to end. However, when I rebooted I still got the funky WB screen. So here I am back at update 2 with no clue how to get update 3 installed.

I have just installed it and after reinstalling my graphics card in Piccasso96mode everything works fine. I am actually listening to music played by the WarpUP version of AmigaAMP as I am writing this post. ::

Just to let the Hyperion guys know...

THANKS ! This is a great update !

Finally the WB gives the right amount of free RAM, and Roadshow connects instaniously to the net via my router. And that Uboot prefs are very welcome aswel !

Thanks,

Martin going on exploring OS4pre#3......

With DMA support. Is that through the onboard IDE headers or through a Sil card?

As the readme file says, after installing the update 3 go to prefs, run p96mode, and from the menu select reattach, and select you graphic card. Save, exit reboot.

You may have to set the WB screen mode again.

Why don't people read the manual!!! Or other posts at least.

Both actually, but the onboard is safe only for the XE and SE boards that are fixed. MicroA1 boards have no problem using onboard UDMA.

I think in any case, UDMA has to be activated manually. Read the SYS:Documentation drawer for more info on this.

Yeah, I read the readme file and even all of the posts up to the point I did the install. I even ran p96Mode after the install and it supposedly showed my graphic card, so I assumed I didn't need to reattach it. However it wasn't clear to me and still isn't how to reattach the gc. I'll give it another go and in the meantime keep to myself what you can go do. ;^P

Dang! This is great news! Veile Dank!

But why, oh why, did I agree to go to the cinema tonight?! If only I'd had advance warning of this release... It wouldn't be so bad if I was going to see something good, but I'm going to see "The Pacifier" aka Kintergarden Vin.

@Mark:

I haven't installed Shogo but I think it should work. I have personally tested Heretic 2 and it works, but there may be some Radeon-related issues (missing textures). ToAks should be the expert here...

Where is the update???

I have logged into the Hyperion website (and YES I have registered my copy of AmigaOS4!) and can see no update files at all under AmigaOS 4.0 developer prerelease.

This is what I get under "directory listing":

Directory listing of AmigaOS 4.0 Developer Prerelease

Up one level

Ok then...I guess no updates for me.....:(
