Software News   Software News : RockBEAT released - software drum machine
   posted by jahc on 19-Aug-2005 11:11:08 (5048 reads)
RockBEAT v1.0 Released

What is it? - RockBEAT is a simple software drum machine for AmigaOS4. It is a tool for musicians that allows you to create drumming tracks. It can create multiple tracks, each one being 4x 4/4 measures with 16th notes. You can save individual tracks as wav files, or the whole thing as one big song. You can drop in your own 16bit 44100Hz PCM WAV samples in the drumsamples/ folder if you like.

Import your drums into Audio Evolution and lay some vocals and guitar tracks down beside them, or just jam along. Great for the bedroom guitarist!

@Mr_Capehill

thanks :)

One minor thing, How do I set tempo? :)
Accented drumhits and customs samples would be nice addition too.

@densho

the number in the tempo gadget is used when you start playing. if you change the tempo in the middle of playback, it wont update the new speed until the start of the next track. you can drop your own samples in the drumsamples folder.. check the how to use.txt file..

Could someone post a resulting sample somewhere?

@Framiga

I'll put something online today..

Way to put that OS4 SDK to great use! You needed some software and you built it. Kudos

@ssolie

yes, thats it exactly. I make software that I personally need myself, and if other people enjoy it too thats good as well. :)

Are you going to add scrolling while playing and some sort of play line marker
to indicated the current play position?

@bean

I tried to do that, but it was very slow and stuttery and the gfx was glitchy.. I had to use a small ahi buffer which didnt help things. sorry about that.

For our Synth owning friends, does it support MIDI?
Adding CAMD support should be fairly easy if you want to.

@LyleHaze

No it doesnt support MIDI. I'm not a "real" muscian and I have no idea about those things. sorry!

@khayoz

finish your project man! competition is good. it will spur us both on!

@all

@jahc
If you would like to support MIDI someday, please let me know.
I'd be happy to help you add it in.
The CAMD library really makes it pretty easy!

Nice Work,
LyleHaze

@jahc
Nice program, thanks!

About importing in AudioEvolution: maybe you can put the eXtream library to good use there?

@jahc

Nice stuff :)

It's fairly hard for me work with, because of the lack of what I suggested to you , but it does work very nicely, when I put the time into it. Another nice jahc app
