The plain and simple truth (as has also been pointed out before) is that there is no license for the Pegasos II, and as long as there is none, nothing is going to happen.

Too bad that AmigaINC does not respond when people are trying to actually aquire a license.

How is AmigaINC's lack of response good?

I have had no problems getting responses from Amiga Inc. and I'm sure Troika & GuruMeditation won't have any problems either.

Let's try and move on from the blame game guys.

Hi minator,

How about, we start a money pool, and buy 4 Playstation 3s when they come out next Feb. or Mar. and then send them to Olegil, and he opens them, and tries to get a working Amiga motherboard out of it, that he can put into a desktop case and send to Hyperion, and they can try and make Helgis' vision of an Amiga(Cell)Two?

Who says we can't rip a Playstation 3 open, take out the good bits and pieces, and resell it as a desktop computer?

You should be able to get Cell workstations within a few months, you can get them now but they're $25,000...

Sure, can you buy one and send it my way if I ask nicely? I'm assuming this is the IBM workstation? It would almost have to be, as I do believe reading the Cell production will basically be sucked up by PS3 and Toshiba (for HD sets I believe?)

Not sure on the 'few months,' bu I may be mis-rembering...aren't we at least 6 months from anyones workstation/other than reference board being available?

There's a simulator due before the end of the year.

Was wondering about that...have a link/details?

Still unlikely we're going to see a stable/sane system available before OS4 may be final, let alone anything not a reference design or the IBM workstation they basically 'have to' make.

Believe me, I'd _love_ to see it, but still think it's unrealistic without a board or system that can be guaranteed sane/working as well as available, and sanely priced, in the near future.

The simulator could certainly be useful...more info please?

Hmm, mental images coming up here, Olegil the mad scientist (no offense intended at all), sucking down some better than US beer, finding out that Sony has come up with yet another specialty fastener, grabbing the drill to get the case apart, while thinking, "I bet I can fit this into a mini-mini ITX case. Now, how can I design an expansion card for it?" (Go Olegil!!! )

IANAL and all that, but I'm pretty sure there's GOT to be a law against that one somewhere. For personal use, maybe, for commercial??!

Besides, then everyone would complain it has no PCI-Express slots in it!

It's nothing hobbyist, that's for sure. I still think that a lot of people would be interested, yes.

As Ole-Egil said, I don't think that the release of Christmas this year is in serious danger

Yeah, we have heard that before, but if you don't have first-hand experience with it I would give them the benefit of the doubt. You don't know what happened before.

i severely doubt that the success of OS4 is tied to Genesis.

And I severely doubt that it is tied to $1000 motherboards either.

I think that a microATX board makes more sense than a miniITX one. You need less layers so price is lower, you can put PCIe bridge chips without worrying abut space... A G4 would be a good idea for multimedia and network stuff so it's good for home users (smooth video playback and faster encoding) and for servers (Altivec seems to speed up a lot some tasks). Some people has pointed out that the second PCI slot of the amy05 won't fit in normal towers.

If it was a microATX board with a 1Ghz 7447A and Olegil's PCIe bridge I'm sure potential customers would be more interested even if it was more expensive.

As for the license: I still remember the AHT disaster. There was the board, there were Hyperion quite open to the project and so on, but the license was not given to AHT.

I know several nice ppc boards which could be used for OS4 (from genesi and other distributors) but there seems to be no interest. Boards which are actually quite cheap and running. Interested in a 200 EUR comlete starter board? Well, might offer this...

@Thread
Give Troika and Gurumeditation some support.
A new Amiga motherboard is GOOD news.
Which is better from user point of view:
µA1 that is very hard to purchase, XE that can't be purchased in shops anymore, finding a PPC-card for a Classic or getting the Amy 05?

Actually, I'm a bit surprised by the lack of
