Hopefully this will fixed the problems I and some others have been experiencing

28th September, 2005 - The MorphOS Development Team would like to inform that a new version of the MorphOS Free Edition for PowerUP accelerator boards is immediately available for download.

Some of the included changes are as follows:
- Missing TrueType font added which results in a major speedup of MUI and related applications.
- Compatible 680x0 libraries added
- New 800x600 @ 60Hz default boot screenmode.
- 56kHz paula audio is enabled now.
- Updated Voodoo 2D drivers.
- New Voodoo 3D driver added.
- Updated documentation.

@Framiga

I have tried previously with and without colon usage, but the result is always the same.

As for the rest of the startup-sequence, mine matches with the exception of my removing the "disabeled" option, and the >NIL: at the end.

I am also using SFS 1.247 (68K) for my MOS partition, solely because when I tried using FFS 45.13, the partition wouldn't even "boot with no startup", which I am inclined to blame on it being located some 5-6GB into the drive.

@Framiga

CyberGuard is always on and activated by kernel. The debug output is redirected to ram buffer, console or serial depending on startup options.

I cant remember options anymore... typing "startup ?" gives option list. If you remove "NoLogWindow" option you maybe get debug output to console -- I cant really remember. You can enable lot of debug options from a startup command and many options are available from system prefs too (Settings->System Prefs->Debug).

When debug is redirected to rambuffer (default) you can use debugramdump (68k, in a Boot dir) or GetRamDebugLog (PPC, in a MorphOS/C dir) to get debug log from a ram to the disk.

There is also LogTool which works in real time displaying everything in a nice MUI window.

Sashimi and SashimiPPC can capture debug output from 68k programs only. Same printings should be visible in CyberGuard debug log too but sometimes it is useful to watch 68k debug strings only.

Edit: If MorphOS fails to boot debugramdump might tell what went wrong.

@itix

ok thanks for the reply.

What i need now, its a mere 68K output.

In few words a enviroment like:

SegTracker activated (is it alredy? it seems)

CyberGuardPPC SHOWPC STACKCHECK AREGCHECK RAWIO

with output to serial>SashimiPPC.

What i don't understand is . . . if i play with the Settings>Debug and
remove NoLogServer and NoLogWindow (default) BUT they still in S-S

startup hal=roms/hal.com1 kernel=roms/kernel.com1 abox=roms/abox2.com1 module=roms/module.com1 resetlevel=$resetlevel ramdebug verbose debug EDebugFlags="NoLogServer NoLogWindow" sumkick disableled delay=$delay extmodules=extmodules/#? $bootdevice $kickstart >NIL:

Whats happens?

I've tryed to change even a single option but the system doesn't boot
anymore.

Thanks

EDIT- i meant to say, change something in S-S not in Settings>Debug
(for now)

@Framiga

SegTracker is always on. CyberGuard has "SHOWPC, "STACKCHECK" and
"AREGCHECK" functionality and enabled but parameters (i.e.

Quote:

startup hal=roms/hal.com1 kernel=roms/kernel.com1 abox=roms/abox2.com1 module=roms/module.com1 resetlevel=$resetlevel ramdebug verbose debug EDebugFlags="NoLogServer NoLogWindow" sumkick disableled delay=$delay extmodules=extmodules/#? $bootdevice $kickstart >NIL:

Hmm.. remove "ramdebug" from the command line. Without ramdebug logs go to either serial or console window. And it is probably good idea to save original working command line somewhere before tweaking it.

NoLogWindow and LogFile options bother me but I cant really remember those options anymore... if it doesnt work better ask at MZ since many MOS developers dont post here.

Btw if you tweak debug settings in Settings->Debug changes are not permanent. They vanish on reboot and sometime options cant be toggled at runtime.

I've now tried all the reset value options, with none of them booting.

I'd love to see MorphOS running on my system, but looks like I never will.

I get a loss of signal on all settings, apart from...

2+6. reboots when the monitor looses the sync.
4.. doesn't loose signal, just sits at a black screen

Only thing I can think it is, is the 4 way IDE, which I aint removing as I need it for my DVD.

Shame, was looking forward to seeing it

@ _Steve_

Is there any way of putting this into a thread to keep the situation and installing problems going ?
Or is it worth continuing it on the other thread that was set up ?

@All

Just for . . .

i've just been playing with some debug option in S-S and "sometimes"
the system doesn't reboot properly after EVERY changes (seems that
something installs some command resident) therefore i/we could think
that we have done something wrong . . . wrong. Try again and again and
the system will boot.

Why i'm saying this? don't know . . .don't ask

Capture the ramdebug to get a clue about what could be wrong.
