Software News   Software News : WarpView v0.4 Released
   posted by COBRA on 23-Oct-2005 9:33:32 (8356 reads)
The first public release of WarpView has just been uploaded to OS4Depot

WarpView is an image wiewer which uses Warp3D to display the images. The advantage of using Warp3D is fast high quality scaling.

WarpView requires AmigaOS4 and a Radeon graphics card. The current version of WarpView has no software clipping, which means it won't work on graphics cards like Voodoo3 (software clipping will be added in a later version).

WarpView is FREEWARE and is my gift to the Amiga community.

Maybe it depends on what kind of sound card people have?

@Rudei

No, it's not cpu workload related.

I tried:
MP3s with AmigaAmp (WOS engine),
streaming MP3 with AmiNetRadio (using mpega.library I guess),
playing modules with ProPlayer,
playing a long IFF sample using Play16.

I get exactly the same distorsion. The music doesn't slow down at all (I know that effect from the Classic), it just gets distorted.

It gets heaviest when I rotate an image so that one corner points almost right at me, but still touches one of the edges of the screen.

Load a 1024x768 image or something into a 1280x1024x32 screen (NOTE: Default is 16-bit!).
Zoom 200% (this should be enough to hear some distorsion).
Then rotate the image slowly so that a corner points at you.

I have a SIL680 and nothing on the VIA.

Just my curiosity: May I know why are you using WOS engine instead of the native mpega.library?

I get a similar thing when GLMatrix is running while I play audio. It sounds like a kind of flanger filter? I think it has something to do with our not quite complete Radeon drivers.

You may find that Voodoo users don't get the distortion at all. But I may be wrong too

@Chip

I can only get the EQ to work with the WOS engine but not the native mpega.library. It might be that reason.

@Glames

That's strange, people reported to me that on Voodoo the image gets distorted as soon az you zoom IN so that you only see part of the images and the rest is outside the visible screen area. Do you not get that at all? What kind of voodoo do you have?

Silly question time- how are you guys zooming? Didn't see any doc aside from the one which was mostly credits, what keys are for zoom in and out?

FWIW, left an image and the app running overnight, no problems or crash at least

Geeze, I would've sworn I read that, and I'd tried +/- but on the normal location, not the keypad.

Looks like I can reproducibly bring down the USB stack with this app (go figure _that_ one).
1. Open an image.
2. zoom in nearly as far as it will go.
3. Grab window with middle button and shake mouse around a bit.
4. Poof, no more USB mouse.

These should have absolutely nothing to do with each other, but...?

i had similar problem with cmi driver and my uA1, the driver losed interrupt and i get audio distorsion, with last release of this driver the problem not occur, but i tried also the sb128 driver with pci sb128 and it has the same problem on my uA1, on A1 i not know. My problem was this: if i launched for example ibrowse my mp3 played with AmigaAMP give me a distorted audio and i must relaunched amigaamp and replayed the mp3.

@Cobra,

I don't see any distorsions: I can zoom in and scroll all around picture. It is more than fluïd.

I have a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP 16Mo. Driver is "Voodoo 3 Generic 48Hz" in Picasso Mode prefs.

Tcho,

Glames

As FuZion said, it's to be able to use the EQ. I also noticed an improvement when changing the EQ settings with the new (80Hz) emu10kx. Before, the sound could just stop when touching the EQ sliders and a new touch made it come back. This phenomenon has almost disappeard with the new emu10kx driver

@Glames

That's really interesting, as all voodoo testers have reported picture getting distorted when vertices go outside the image (due to lack of software clipping).

There, i've uploaded a simple GUI for WarpView.It was done since ages,so it needs some changes, but currently my microA1 is uboot-less, so i've decided to increase OS4Depot counter ;).

Enjoy!

@poweramiga2002

Quote:"how do you select it as default viewer?"

@drhirudo may have been referring to "configuring it" to use as his default viewer
through other programs. Example:Dopus buttons, etc. But I could be wrong about that.

Best Wishes,
