Can't the dvskins be made in differtent sizes or atleast a small
and a big one. My resolution 1280x960 makes the skins look
very small, even hard to work with. Especially the non default
ones.
If not multiple size skins then a "on the fly" double gfx size like
WinAMP has

I've been trying to get the previous demo working right but get a lot of crashes. I went looking for small avi files to try and haven't had very good luck. For example, there are 2 small avi files at:

One won't load and the other brings up the Grim Reaper.

Also, DVPlayer has a menu for opening a VideoCD. Is that a different format than a DVD??

I have the latest avcodec.library installed with a52.library in libs:avcodecs.
I'm using a µA1 with OS4 Update3.

I had a look at those AVI clips, they do not play in neither DvPlayer nor mplayer here. mplayer produces the same results, GrimReaper on first one, nothing happens on second one. I'll see if I can get them to work.

VideoCD is different from DVD.

IMHO you cannot fix it. It should be fixed in avcodec generally.

These files are indeo3 encodec movies. This format is really outdated and not 100% supported. It's IBM's property anyway. I suggest you to check movies with more recent codecs, like: divx, xvid and any other mpeg4 variant.

use amp or froggerng, they both support(ed) the xanim codecs for indeo 3,4 and 5

The new registered is great. I found an avi on the harddrive. It plays like a charm, but DVD's that play on MPLayer won't make a sound on DVPlayer. I made all the upgrades suggested on other forums. Any more suggestions for sound?

One of those AVI files is not even recognised by DvPlayer as a playable file, possibly due to some weirdness the encoder put in there. So it's not just a codec issue IMHO. These files are a good example of the kind of crap some encoders produce...

I have been a registered user of frogger/froggerng for years.
I still use Frogger(WOS) for testing purposes.
The documentation does not indicate -any- support for indeo 4/5.
Running Frogger in verbose (test feedback) mode and attempting to play an A/V
file using these codecs wills respond as "unsupported."
In addition, there are comments concerning "lack of -full- support for the indeo
3x codec family.

If you truly have a link for an indeo 4/5 file that plays without error through
this program, I would appreciate having that link so I can test it. Thanks.

I have commented in more than one thread at AW concerning what I think would be
most helpful for developers. If people continue to test damaged files we are
wasting time looking at "files" instead of the "programs" themselves.
I have tried to encourage people to discover and publish links to verified
quality test files in different formats. I have even published some of these
links here at AW.
If you feel that it would be beneficial for developers of A/V programs to have
access to such files, perhaps we could start a thread "reserved" for such
information. We could list the link, the formats covered in said link, and
anything else that is relevant. Another possibility would be for someone to "host"
a site where we could upload "short" test files. They could be then approved,
described, and linked to for every Amigan to use.

What do you think?

I don't think people want an A/V player that only works reliably with a set of approved files. If someone publishes such a list it might be useful for testing a newly installed A/V program. In the end though, people want an A/V player so they can grab files from the Internet and view them.
Sure, there are going to be crap A/V files out there, but the desired response to such files should not be a visit to the Grim Reaper. The only way the author can improve the program to handle defective files is if we point them out. A list of crap A/V files might be more useful that a list of "approved" ones.
Failing to play a defective file is acceptable. Crashing is never an acceptable response from a program. Would you want a WEB browser that only works on a list of verified sites and crashes on the rest. If you subscribe to the IBrowse or AWeb mail lists you know that people report the links that don't work, not the ones that do. That's how programs get improved.

This issue of "nonplayable" A/V files becomes even more important when you
consider that our current browsers can be configured to use our current media
players.
What is a user going to say about AWeb or IBrowse if he clicks on a file while
browsing and "nothing" happens? What is a user going to say about AWeb or
IBrowse if he clicks on a file and his "system" crashes. It is conceivable that
the user may even blame AOS4 for that.
My point here is that the implications of trying to play a non-playable file or
a damaged file goes "far" beyond an analysis of how it affects just our media
players.

You are misinterpreting what I am saying.
Samples will show that support exists for the codecs discussed.
I am not saying to use "only" these working samples in reporting.
