A new version of TuneNet (v0.72a) is now available on OS4 depot along with a new plugin for playing Ogg Vorbis files.
Although originally intended as a service release, this version also adds some new features including the ability to play MP3 Icecast streams and drag and drop playlist facilities.
For a full list of changes, or to download use the links below: TuneNet V0.72 Ogg Vorbis Plugin
(The TuneNet site will be updated shortly to reflect these changes) |

The volume of Tunenet is really quiet compared to the same files played with eg. AmigaAmp. Any ideas? |
Well it is slightly quieter I agree.
I'm not sure why, but TuneNet is the same volume as Play16 when using AHI Stereo++ modes. Maybe it's something to do with TuneNet using the Music unit and AmigaAmp using the Units? I'm not sure entirely - but will check out soon.
I'll add a boost option in the future but until then I'd crank the volume up.

Okay, I'll whack it up to 11
My music unit is set to use Unit 0 (AHI v6 device.audio option)
Also, it tends to cut out quite easily. I tried upping the priority and buffers but it didn't seem to help. Do I need to quit and restart Tunenet for those to take effect? I can get more-or-less jitter-free audio from AmigaAmp with: Load buffer: 64k Play buffer: 1/5s Play pri: 10
I'm not entirely sure how they translate to Tunenet's buffer options - I can't see a play buffer option?
Also (since we're here an' all that) is there a way to not kill the GUI and not have an AppIcon - ie, have the same behaviour as "Disable Main App" but without disabling the main app (or the same as iconfying on startup, but without the AppIcon), so you can still access it via the docky?
Sorry for so many questions. Anyway, good work! It's rapidly becoming my player of choice.

| Ok in no particular order I'll try to answer the questions:

..and use a totally black square docky for playback!

Presently no, the reason is I ran out of time over Christmas! I've got one last GUI routine to put into a function and then this will be possible, so expect it real soon(tm).
TuneNet can be played/operated in many different ways (see the readme), there are even some hidden playmodes available - like from WB with no Interface, but still being able to control what is being played! However, the one you mentioned above isn't quite there yet - I'll code it next weekend at the ANT meeting how's that?

Yes, sometimes under heavy load I get this too. However, it will be solved. Again, I ran out of time over Christmas and couldn't quite put the enhancements I wanted to put into the main play routine. Most of my efforts went into the docky GUI and playlist.
The buffers you are refering too are probably the streaming buffers for Internet radio, so will not help when the CPU is under heavy load. Also the priority slider does need an app restart when changed (this has already been fixed for the next version).

The buffer options are preset currently, the only ones available in the GUI are for the streaming Internet radio (not the audio buffers).

Not at all, I'm glad you are using it. This really all started when I wanted a basic MP3 CLI player - I never intended it to turn out to run Multiple GUI's, have playlist editing and Plugin support but it's funny how things turn out eh! .. and besides it's still a reasonable CLI MP3 player!
