I am really sad that there are almost no Amiga-only games available. Ported games are not really attractive to me: I can run them on other computers or operating systems, why would I run them on Amiga? Just like a nation without its own literature, only translations are available... Good, good, but not the same.

Please developers do your duty, bring us new exclusive games. I know that porting is a lot easier and the results will come a lot faster, but those are just foreign programs.

I never heard about this?

Wonder what I would have voted for.......

No, it isn't. MorphOS games can simply be recompiled for OS4, due to the common 3.1 API, most of the time. There's absolutely no common thing between the PS and XBox, they are two totally unrelated platforms.

Actually, I can't see why doesn't anyone try to port the working MorphOS port, 'til Hyperion releases its own.

You can find the sources here.

Quake 3 should not be that diffecult to port on OS4 since hyperion also did Q2.
Q2 ran very good on my A4000 CSPPC with voodoo 3 3000 in a mediator though.

They have already ported it but haven't released it. The link I gave is for the already working and released MorphOS port, it shouldn't be hard to adapt to OS4, provided that MGL has all functions needed.

BLOODY RIDICULOUS !!!!! how can a game that doesn't even RUN on a real Amiga be Amiga game of the Year? So it runs on MorphOS and just needs a recomile - has it been recompiled and working under AmigaOS? Not to my knowledge and if it has I apologize but if not this is about as relevant as a reliant robbing winning the 4 wheel drive vehicle of the year awards because IT'S GOT AN ENGINE.

MorphOS is NOT AmigaOS, and they are PROMOTING it that way so why does this count? It shouldn't - AmigaOS is AmigaOS, not morphos or Aros, i'm sure they will have their own awards too but just because something CAN be converted to AmigaOS shouldn't put it in the contender picture - it should already BE HERE to win.

This is all getting crazy.

@Oxygenet

Uh, it runs on real Amiga so where is the problem? Q3 is ported to OS4 and MOS runs on real Amiga too, so?

Anyway it was Amiga Games Award not AmigaOS Games Awards so your own fault you didnt vote or didnt have enough voters (I didnt vote, I tried to but sending votes by email was too much work).

I just laugh at you guys.. Why can't MorphOS be Amiga too. You can't buy any hardware to run AOS4 on..
MorphOS is more Amiga inte the spirit than AmigaOS imho. That is why I choosed the Peg-way. But Quake3 is a natural winner and VGP2 is a great game to. Maybe you will se these machines if you send a AONE board to a developer so he could port it..

I'm guessing 'amiga-like' was good enough for them? Their rules, as it's their article etc..

From the vote: "Vote for the best Amiga/MorphOS/AROS games of the year 2005."

You don't have to agree with it, but you don't make their rules, so relax, we don't need this turning into a flamefest over such trivialities, do we?

Toaks also brought up a good point:
Quote:
just shows that poeple need to vote ... i have a feeling only 10% of the guys in this thread voted... other than that...i am not shocked Q3 is on first place...it will stay there for years to come...as for numbers of voters , see the website (iirc he had such)

Well, because it's not? It's Amiga-like, and can run on PPC classics, but that doesn't mean Amiga(tm). *shrug* Not really a relevant question..

Quote:

Again, not relevant in the context of this discussion, regardless of it being true.

Again, not relevant to the topic at hand really, although you're entitled to your opinion.

Yeah, Q3, Nois2za and Wesnoth are all great games. And yes, hopefully there will be _something_ to help sponsor OS4 ports with 'soon!'

It seems that the voiting part of the Amiga Community didn't share your narrow minded opinion.
If you are so anti Amiga Community, maybe you should setup an "AmigaOS4 Games Award".

I hope not, because if lousy pc-games such as Quake 3 will be the future of Amiga-gaming, then it really is amiga bye bye.

It was clearly stated what the poll was about. I find your insults and attacks very unnecessary.

@all

If it doesn't run under AmigaOS it should not be called an Amiga game the fact the porters could of easiely made it so they runs under ALL amiga platforms and choose Specifically to Exclude all platforms running AmigaOS ( Don't give me any rubbish about how MorphOS is faster or any such nonsense becuase benchmarking both OS's on the same machine running the same Amiga programs . Proves beyond the shadow of a doubt how SLOW MorphOS is compared to OS4. )

The purpose of the list is very clear they are nether Amiga games nor is it meant to highlight Amiga games just a tatical manuever by the blue bennies who wanted to highlight software that only runs under MorphOS .
Gee not very compatible or Amiga centric like they claim to be .

It is strong evidence that they are still a bitter and VERY partesan group.
Firmly committed to destroying the platform on which the have a parasitic existance on..

Just my opinion.

I think you are smoking to much..

the developer of the mos-quake3 has released his files. Just for a os4 developer to fix it to OS4. Run Q3 on a classic amiga it is not a good idea thou..

Because the current version does not run on a real Amiga?? Afaik it only runs on a computer called the pegasos, which has absolutely nothing to do with Amiga other than the fact that it runs a OS that is similar to aos. You cannot call a intel pc for a amiga just because it runs Aros which is a clone based on AmigaOS.

I have nothing against either pegasos or morphos, but you cannot call it a Amiga, unless it has been somehow licensed by amiga inc or something.

Hi,

This is realy nonsens !

"Amiga Games.." ????

I cant play the winner [and the most other] Games ATM NOT on an Amiga !!

And only for clarify :

THIS IS AW.net !!! Not Amiga-News or ANN or Amiga.org !!!!

Here the main focus is [i hope so] on the opinion, AmigaOS4 IS the true successor of Amiga !!!
If you are another opinion .. fine .. no problem .. but please .. dont pray on us this !!!

I am intelligently enough to going not on a MOS site and say -> "HEY .. YOUR SYSTEM IS NOT AMIGA ..."
and likewise i going not to a Winblows site and discuse over the best OS ...

WILL i visite a MOS site .. I point exactly the opinion on this site, and i am ONLY a Visitor !
This is the main problem with few MOS/AROS user here .. you have your opinion .. o.k. ..
BUT leave USE ours opinion !!! If you not contently with this , you can leave !!
I dont think somebody forces you to Visit/Read this site .... [or have i miss something ??]
I will never go to a MOS site and will convert this in an AROS or OS4 site .. this will never Happen,
exactly like here !

And to go back Like Topic .. an "AMIGA" Games Award have nothing to do with Games that "can"
ported to AmigaOS in the next time .. this is likewise for nearly all PC games from
the last years so !! And i see NOT HomeWorld or anything like this on the List !!

And Yes -> a native OS4 Game IS an TRUE Amiga game !!
An AGA Game is likewise an Amiga game .. although it runs not on A1000 ... it runs on the successor !

!!! And is HW available have NOTHING to do with this !!! [how this situation is bad without ask!]

Just for completeness: voting was announced at Amiga.org. Couldnt find related news from AWN, MZ or ANN but it was announced at morphos-news.de and amiga-news.de.

And the original voting is here.

The top three in last year was OpenTTD, Descent2 and Beats of Rage, all so original Amiga games.
