    I don't think that we'll "fix" this. If you want to use patternmatching chars just escape them with an single apostroph eg. [AmigaOS] -> '[AmigaOS'] should do.

    Nice!

    But... can anyone tell me how to remove the original (i.e. Simplemail team) addresses from my addressbook? Everytime I delete them, they appear again when I restart Simplemail. New contacts are always saved.

    Thanks!

    It's possible since v0.28. If you really want it you have to find it out yourself.

    Hint: It's a hidden option you have to add manually to the config file.

    Ok, thanks, I'll look for it.

    Not to be misunderstood, your' email addresses do deserve to be there, it's just I dont have any real use for them, and I'd like to keep the addressbook tidy

    I've no problem with that. Otherwise there would be no such option :)

    Hint2: RTFM (hm, I should have said this in the first time ;)

    Excellent, looking forward to that. Simplemail is my favourite mailer on ANY platform, including Windows, Mac OSX (Tiger) and Amiga.... well done!

    OK I submitted the bug report. Hopefully I did it correctly

    Another thing, that I think is my system and not a bug, is the List view of mail folders. On the screen shot of Simple mail, when you go down a directory you see an arrow that points down, like in this screen shot:

    http://simplemail.sourceforge.net/screenshots/simplemail-main-0.25.png

    On my system it is just a blank square space which you can still click on and works correctly, but looks funny of course. I assumed it was something with MUI and maybe Nlisttree, but I have tried many different version of NListtree, and have all the latest MUI stuff I can find. (I've replaced all the mui stuff that SimpleMail seems to use as well just to make sure I didn't have a corrupt file or something strange) Any ideas?

    WOW. I thought I knew everything about AmigaDOS, but it seems that I completely missed that! (Not) being able to escape pattern-matching characters has been a big problem for me... Will try it out ASAP.

    @AmigaHeretic

    a) Yup, your bug report is ok.
    b) It's an NListtree setting. Open MUI Settings and goto NListtree. There you can select what image should be displayed on opend or closed trees.

    @ChrisH

    The patternmatching is somewhere described in the AmigaDOS manual.

    Having only had an A500 & A1200, I'm not sure that I ever had such a manual

    I googled for info about the escape character, and found VERY few references. Interestingly, one was a reference to the exact same problem with YAM (from 2003).

    I think that most people won't use pattern matching (intentionally!) for filters, but they will be likely to filter mailing lists who's subject begin with [name] , which of course won't work, and they might not realise why. So IMHO it would still be better to have pattern matching disabled (by default). If you don't want to clutter the Filter window, then make it a Preferences option - advanced users can tick it & be aware they must escape (common) characters like []?!-%

    Great that worked perfect. You learn something new everyday I suppose.

    Thanks for the help!

    Thank you for another excellent update. It
    has become my favorite email program on every
    playtform. The update works great here,

    Everyone remember that paypal button. The
    programmers are doing a great job, and asking
    for no payment. The least we can do is give them
    beer/wine money as a thank you.

    Regards,
    Don Feldbruegge
