   posted by EntilZha on 10-Apr-2006 13:49:34 (14875 reads)
Leuven, Belgium - 10. April, 2006

Hyperion Entertainment is proud to announce the availability of the Software Development Kit Version 51.22 for the AmigaOS 4.0 Developer Pre-Release.

The new SDK features the new gcc 4.0.2 compiler toolchain as well as updated header files for AmigaOS 4.0 Pre-Release update 4.

The SDK download is available for all interested parties via anon access at Hyperions FTP Server:
ftp://ftp.hyperion-entertainment.biz/AmigaOS4_SDK

The SDK is available in two versions: A 160 MB download that contains everything to get you started, including compiler and contributed libraries, and a cut-down version that contains the compiler and documentation only.

@CodeSmith
ZeroHero has binaries of crosscompilers, and a very usefull guide how to use them... so why not use that one (I do...)

What i want is an AmigaOS-68k crosscompiler.I spent a lof time with my classic amiga gcc environment installing cross compiler for morphos, aros, amiga68k, amithlon and would be fantastic generate also AOS4 binaries with my classic

Still problems. By the way Zope is an application server solution, you can run php both on Apache and Zope for instance.

Seems the server is up but not some database:

OperationalError: (2002, "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)")

Guess a restart of the database is in place, or increasing amount of threads it can run, both in the application server and the mysql database, or setup mirror or torrents etc etc ;)

Now, you only need Amiga Inc to get their finger out and put NDK out online again. Unfortunately it's not just a matter of nagging Hmetal (Ray Akey) as he removed them because he was told to by his bosses. I tried to e-mail them about this several times, but no answers so aybe if you have some psychic abilities you are more lucky than me. And please notify me if you are successful ;)

In the meantime you can download an illegally distributed NDK from DjBase's site, google it, or try to find a store that sells the AmigaDev CD 2.1, although it has slightly outdated NDKs too.

how about a controlled torrent seed? It'd save you a lot of bandwidth and you'd still have the IPs of people downloading it, just in case it appears elsewhere.

It isn't the bandwidth at all. The server has plenty of it. I can still comfortably use ssh. It's the CMS (notably, Zope) that is eating up memory when you download something, plus it eats CPU cycles like mad....

Working on an alternative download. Stay tuned.

It already runs apache, and yeah, I could use PHP for the downloads. I would have rewritten the whole shebang already if I had the time for it.

Web site is offline for the time being until we fixed the problem.

It's not the threads either. It just output "cannot allocate pages" on the syslog - the memory is full.

@Rogue

Cheers, managed to download it as soon as the server came back up, went through a proxy as well because I thought it might be a bit more reliable.

The whole caboodle downloaded in less than half an hour (not bad for a 1Mbps connection), and works nicely.

Shame I don't have time to play with it now.

Chris

[offtopic]
We're using Zope as a project Wiki/Notepad.
Is it so bad ? (Memory hungry, slow,...,?). We have maybe 10 users of it and small downloads.
?...python is nice, but need not to be efficient...?
[/offtopic] - sorry didn't want to ruin the thead.

4.0.2 looks good. I dont't have OS4(HW) and I would realy like to try that beast on amiga.

Not really. It's an ancient version I am using here (2.something) and I am sending downloads as attachments so I can "spool" them from the database. So when someone downloads 130 megs, it will load all of that into memory not send pieces...

Python wasn't designed as a web scripting language, PHP was. That makes a difference I guess. It doesn't mean Python is slow, or memory inefficient... But Zope itself is written in Python, and therefore it's quite a chunk of code running there.

Hmm, we use a python based wiki (moin) at work, including quite some activity as well as downloads, no problems there at least.

So....os4depot? I'm sure we could provide logs if you were truly interested in them...?

I have offered mirrors already, and even Aminet should be able to host it if wanted. So we'll see ;) A torrent would've been nice too of course. ;)

We would be very happy to mirror the SDK, we offered as well.

Still looks like apache is down here, connection refused.

Mirrors likely available at:
os4depot server (we have plenty of bw and space available) - can do temporary or permanently.
aminet (nicomen already offered)
troika

So basically, say the word and you've got a download site...

I'm not going to bother downloadinbg the SDK. It's not a lot of use until I can actually obtain and run OS4.0, is it?

@LoneHaranguer

You realize it took longer for you to post that, than it did for you to not download the SDK? That's five minutes of your life you're just not getting back, my friend...

That you for all the offers, but as I have already pointed out, it is not a bandwidth issue.

I have moved the download to anonymous FTP now:

ftp://ftp.hyperion-entertainment.biz/AmigaOS4_SDK

Sorry for the confusion.
