hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : New CPU Modules: Estimated Availability June 19/2006
posted by ackcontrls on 23-Apr-2006 16:30:37 (69953 reads)
ACK Software Controls, Inc. is pleased to announce the upcoming availability of two new AmigaOne XE CPU modules. The first CPU module will be equipped with a Freescale MC7448 CPU clocked at 1GHz. The 1GHz module will retail for $500.00 US Dollars. The second CPU module will be equipped with a Freescale MC7448 clocked at 1.7GHz will retail for $850.00 US Dollars. Both CPU modules will be eqipped with a high quality heatsink and fan to ensure quiet, reliable operation.

Prototype modules will be demonstrated May 22/2006. The location for this demonstration has yet to be determined. Due to the low volume nature of these products, emails indicating demand for either of the two units is greatly appreciated. Stay tuned for updates.

Sincerely,

Adam Kowalczyk

ACK Software Controls, Inc.

Hi jahc,

Well, I FINALLY have AOS4 Pre #4 up and running!!!!

It only took 4 hours, curse that windros, well, alot of the problem was having 1 monitor for 2 computers. Had to keep turning one on then the other.

Scroll wheel works in IBrowse!!!! Woohoo!

Now, unfortunately, have no clue how to get 1280*1024 screen back!

Interesting thread.... I especially laughed at the comment that suggests I'm still a virgin. I imagine it was meant to be an insult......but I just can't stop laughing.

Sigh. Please see the post scriptum to this post. The part in [OT] tags. This feigned injury gets really annoying.

Sigh. Please note the smiley. I don't think I am the one taking myself way too seriously now. Think of the view as "deviant" then, if you prefer. Or "purple". Whatever.

Yes, if some people are "stupid" (your word, not mine), then it would indeed be more sober to say "you're stupid" than saying "congrats everyone!!!!" et c.

But this silly meta-discussion is off-topic.

@Adam,

A1SE here, so no new cpu for me (unless I want to invest in a very expensive ornament!).

However, I do wish you all the best for this project and hope you are able to bring a good product to the market and that you are appropriately compensated for your time and effort.

Looking forward to your other projects baring fruit.

To imply stupidity because someone is prepared to pay through the nose to maintain their interest is not only ignorant but also potentially hypocritical.

Ask yourself have you ever paid more for something than it's actually worth? You're probably thinking nahh I'm shrewd, perhaps you are, or perhaps you've never realised it... Have you ever used Ebay?

I have just paid four times as much as I would have paid 7 years ago for a part for one of my mini's, why??? Because I'm stupid? Or because I enjoy the fun that my hobby gives me so much that I am prepared to pay through the nose to continue to enjoy that hobby?

I get grief from the guys I work with for driving a "toy car" compared to their range of executive cars, but I liken it very much with this situation - perhaps I'm forever likely to back the underdog (anyone who knows my choice in football would agree). You know they may ridicule but I think secretly they really want to have a go...

Was that supposed to be in reply to something, or some sort of "preemptive strike" just in case anyone would have a problem with your spending habits? Surely it couldn't have been a reply to the Moobunny post I linked to, where I replied "Let them" to someone who apparently had a problem with how you spend your money?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Comparing AmigaOne with Dianetics/Scientology is _disgusting_. Please take your insults elsewhere.

Er if anyone here does not like what is being posted by an individual, you are perfectly welcome to report the individual concerned. It is annonymous. A moderator will look at the post concerned and if deemed offensive, will lead to the post being removed and/or a ban on the individual concerned.

Thanks, but I think it's better to just ignore hnl_dk's troll above. Other than that, the thread has been completely free from ToS violations.

Edit: OK, now I see "Rob" joined in on the personal insults, but other than THAT... :)

Why is it anonymous? As you stick to your own thoughts and opinion trough your alias, you should also be blunt enought not to hide behind the mask of anonymousity when sending an abuse report about someone who *had not* expressed his own opinion anonymously...

Hubbard is dead, I'm sure he's not insulted. Or are you suggesting that a piece of hardware and a business model can be "insulted"? Either way you're off topic, unless you are a believer in some sort of polytheism where "AmigaOnes" have feelings. :D

Your arrogance really gets annoying.

Apparently.

Eh? Are you TRYING to be offended? The smiley/tongue-in-cheek was in reference to the "more sober" bit.

Was there anything more I could have done to make that blindingly clear, other than to split your quote into two paragraphs and reply to each part separately like I did?

Ah, phuck it all! This is going nowhere. Please ask me in PM or e-mail e at mair dot com if there's still something that's unclear.

Kind regards,
