Events   Events : AmiRevival Press Release
   posted by giga on 28-Jun-2006 10:07:01 (8656 reads)
AmiRevival, the Amiga event to watch this July, will soon be upon us so now is the time to book tickets and exhibitor tables. The event promises to be a success with the likes of Mindspace (UML diagram software for OS4 and soon OS3.x) and other exhibitors attending, providing a large amount of interest.

In order to make this event the success it deserves to be we need your feedback and support. We are looking to provide something for everyone from the new user to the old, classic to next generation. To help us in this goal we would gladly welcome exhibitors from the Pegasos / MorphOS side as well as those from AROS and the Amiga communities. The Amiga community has always been one of friendly support and a cheerful and we want to rekindle that spirit.

We are also looking for more exhibitors to attend the event, helping in its success. If you feel you could exhibit, be that as a trader, usergroup or an individual we would like to hear from you. See the official Amirevival website for more exhibitor information. We will welcome all exhibitors so long as what your exhibit is related to the Amiga or Amiga-like systems (including Amiga emulation, AROS and MorphOS).

If you have a new product that you want to release in style, AmiRevival would be a good place to do this. With eyes on this event and all the after event reports this could be a great marketing opportunity. Yoodoo2, one of the authors of Mindspace, plans to attend and will be launching version 1 of his very useful product on the day of the show – why not join him?

Various user groups from around the UK will also be exhibiting – the likes of SEAL, the authors of Total Amiga, will be attending the show with other usergroups including AmiSEK; the only user group in the South East of England.

PegXMac, the software allowing you to run MacOS on your AmigaOne, will also be available on the AmiSEK stand to try and we are hoping to have the latest version available to demonstrate at the event – its first public demonstration.

To book tickets, exhibitor space or just to find out more information visit the official AmiRevival website.

@Kronos

The UK motorway speedlimit is 70MPH, but the journey isn't even all motorway. I'd say really around 3.5 hours each way.

What about £5 off the registration price of MindSpace for every attendee? Done.

I like the way you think and MindSpace looks like a great program.

Why the MPH. I thought you guys in the UK used the metric system like everyone else bar the USA (who are still catching up when it comes to modern units ).

@Hans

We are mostly metric, with a few exceptions.

These are the most common imperial units used in the UK:

* Road & journey distances (miles)
* Speed (miles per hour)
* Beer, milk & blood (pints)
* Weight of a person (stones and pounds) (most other weights are in kilos)
* Height of a peson (feet and inches)

For example, if you asked an english person their height and weight, 99% of us will use the measurements stated above, but we buy our groceries and most drinks in metric units etc.

Just a quick note for anyone thinking about going to the show, Virgin do a good price on single train tickets, they are only about £10-£15 each right to scunthorpe.
Its costing me only £24 from Lichfield.
(And thats on a total of 6 trains and takes 2 hours 35 there and 4:20 back)

Erm... SEAL (South Essex Amiga Link) is in the South East of England, as is ANT (Amiga North Thames) which is in NE London!

@Ryu

Thanks for all the efforts you've put in to organising AmiRevival and sorry to hear of your loss.

I really hope the show is able to go ahead and as Sicky has said, if it does SEAL will be there. Three of us plan to come up with the usual selection of Total Amigas including the very latest issue which is due to be published the week before the show!

We'll have special offers on back issues and we're also planning a surprise new Total Amiga-related product. I'm not sure at the moment if we'll have it ready in time so I won't reveal any more

Also on our table there will be at least one AmigaOne running the latest developer version of OS 4 and I'll have a new beta of AmiPodder, my podcast receiving software.

BTW... because of the drive (it's about 180 miles from Essex) we've booked a hotel for the Saturday night. Is anything planned for the evening after the show?

If not perhaps we could have an imprompu get-togther/meal. Is anyone else planning to stay?

Good luck,

Robert

@xeron

It's 208.9 miles according to my mile-o-meter to the original SCAG meeting place, from my place in South Wales. Doesn't look like the other place is all that much further away. Took me about 3hours 45minutes most times.

@sicky

Yeah, that got pointed out on Amiga.org too. Sorry guys - my geography is really bad! Should have written Kent (which was the original intention before I had a completely odd 5 minutes)

@ANT, SEAL
Sorry guys

@Mods
Please edit to read "the only user group in Kent".

Sorry again.

Sorry guys

No problem, most people know where SEAL is located anyway (it is in our name after all, South Essex Amiga Link)

It's a pity to hear that you'll cancel it if you don't get more exhibitors & visitors. But I don't think you'll get many more visitors unless you get more exhibitors. The exhibitors seem very limited at the moment, although that's perhaps not surprising since there isn't really anything new to sell (how many shows is it possible to sell the old same stuff?).

Really, without new OS4 machines, there's almost no need for new software (everyone's already bought the OS3.x stuff they want), and I guess not much need for new hardware either. So if/until OS4 gets released with new hardware, I think we are stuck in a decline.

@all

I have updated the AmiRevival website to reflect the new exhibitors and additional confirmations - keep 'em coming guys, we can save this show!

I'd like to highlight the fact that Oliver Hannaford-Day will be exhibitng his latest coldfire prototype board at the show and that MindSpace version 1 will be released with discounts for every visitor.

Hope to see you all there.

GiGa
