Internet News   Internet News : Interview with Elena "Fractals" Novaretti
posted by rhino on 24-Jul-2006 21:23:53 (4754 reads)
Total Amiga issue 24 (which is out now) contains an interview with Elena Novaretti the author of Zone Explorer, the best Fractal program for Amiga OS. Our intrepid interviewer, Magnus Johnson, submitted such a detailed article that we couldn't fit it all in the magazine! Therefore we have made the full interview, complete with detailed mathematical discussion (don't worry, there's lots to interest the less technically minded too) and explanatory diagrams from Elena, available as a PDF from our website:

http://www.totalamiga.org/issue24.html

If you enjoy this interview please consider subscribing to Total Amiga were we regularly publish interviews with Amiga developers as well all kinds of other articles.

After Magnus put so much effort into the inteview we thought it only fair to publish the whole thing, unfortunately it was too large to fit in the magazine without cutting it down.

Good heavens! I thought I'd seen most of what could be done with fractals. This is a whole new level.

Elena & I differ on color schemes. Hers are a lot more subtle than mine would be. Just a matter of personal choice. Even so, I kept going "Wow!" and often needed to push my jaw closed as I sampled her archive.

Thanks Total Amiga. I'll make sure to mention both the magazine & Elena's work at the August Users Group Meeting.

Great interview!

Hopefully we can get Elena a nice shiny new OS4 box in the near future so she can continue development of ZoneXplorer.

I read in the headlines of this news item that zone explorer is the best Amiga fractal generator and that made me to try it for the first time. I was astonished by the amazing pictures that i got with just a few zooms! As the document says, it`s indeed different from other programs of this kind and the 68k version is slow but the PPC version is reasonably fast.

Indeed! I don't think I have ever seen such an INdepth interview on such a complex topic.
