posted by amigakit on 21-Sep-2006 18:43:19 (7741 reads)
AmigaKit.com acquires Eyetech Classic Amiga Stock

We are pleased to announce that we have acquired the entirety of Eyetech Ltd's remaining Classic Amiga stock.

Please bear with us whilst we integrate the stock with our existing product database. In the meantime, if you have a specific request for an item you cannot see on www.amigakit.com, please get in contact.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Alan Redhouse and Eyetech for the contribution to the Classic Amiga market over many years.

Interesting... Notice now how http://www.eyetech.co.uk now points to amigakit.com?

The announcement doesn't say. However, if that would be the case, I doubt we would learn from it in such manner.

Shame...

Are you one of the guys who started the rumours about a legal conflict between Amiga Inc. and Hyperion? Somehow, such hasty conclusion seems to be based on an awfully similar reasoning...

There is an dispute between them, as in Ainc´s lawyers talking to Hyperion´s lawyers, could be an disagreement about the contract, no details given to what it is about yet.

Nah, that was Bill McEwen. See the response to question #3 HERE.

One can only hope.

Well, not necessarily that they've gone bust, that's not nice (though it would be divine justice of sorts). But it sure could be a tiny bit of good news if Eyetech had taken their loot from the "AmigaOne" scam and moved on to greener business pastures, and they finally had been removed from the "competitor" (=hardware licensee) selection process.

Not that it would matter much, as AmigaOS4 is dead as long as there is a compulsory licensee selection process at all.

I know Alan has invested a lot of money in the Amiga scene. Especially with the AmigaOne development & I seem to remember that there was a lot was his personal funds used in the project.

Where on Earth did you get that idea? Not talking about the "Amiga scene", whatever that's referring to, but "AmigaOne development"? The reason why Eyetech eventually had "AmigaOnes" to sell at all (since they invented the licensing scheme and wouldn't sell good, existing hardware like Macs or Pegasoses) was that they did NOT have to develop anything.

Eyetech funded (tried to for a while, at least) the Escena "AmigaOne" development, and nothing ever materialised from that. Nothing to thank anyone for.

I still wanna thank Eyetech for everything

Thanks for helping kill AmigaOS right when it looked like it could finally break free from "Amiga hardware" dependency, Eyetech!

Thanks for blocking licences to anyone else, whenever there actually were people crazy enough to want one!

Thanks for "creating a strategy that will see the Amiga desktop platform move back into the mainstream and take its proper place in the market."
Thanks for "providing a total and compelling Amiga experience to future customers."
Thanks for "the production and development of a platform where both users and developers are guaranteed not just a quality product but a total quality experience as well."
Thanks for "championing the cause of quality for the consumer and [ensuring] that substandard products do not make it into the Amiga market where they can do irreparable damage to the reputation of the platform."
Thanks for "develop[ing] and resourc[ing] a full customer solution, with guarantees on product quality, delivery, and most important of all post sales support, with firm commitments to repair, replacement and turnaround".

Thanks a whole bloody lot, Eyetech! And enjoy the retirement! We're all here for you, eagerly waiting, if you should decide you want more! :P

And once again I am amazed at your ability to read my posts and answer questions not directed at you.

I'm guessing you are a know-it-all 14 year old teen? If not, then your avatar fooled me!
