If Amiga Inc and Hyperion are having some sort of problem, it can't be too serious. Bill seemed genuinely enthusiastic about OS4, which wouldn't be the case if his company and that developing OS4 were involved in a serious legal fight.

BTW IBM why did IBM ditch the PPC PDA?

You could have asked IBM directly a couple of days ago.

Jstein from IBM on the 'Power.org, the Future, etc.' thread

Still, if you have any questions about IBM and Power - he invited anyone at AmigaWorld over to the power.org forums where he can answer you questions directly.

@Colin_Camper
Another idea might be to just email the guy and be done with it. Then again, I like the direct approach.

edit:

Hmmmm.... it's also right here at www.amigaworld.net!

I'm not involved in the Samantha project... and I don't even own a company!

Well, Bill is not stupid and he know he is talking to the amigans who more or less don't care about his DE products. So only option is to say how excited he is (million-th time, i have bad feeling he is excited in every statement) about OS4 and project samantha, cooperation, licences etc and most of you would be happy for some time. (Yeah it is really hard for my to understand this ecstasy, coz AmigaInc failed soo many times in the past so i even dont believe his name is Bill...)

ROFL. It is not serious to talk about it on the public, but coz he did, i guess it is faaaar from "can't be too serious".

IMHO the most important things were:
- AInc is working with the Italians and Hyperion to get AOS4 running on Sam;

Are "the Italians" working with Hyperion, the Friedens and the rest (40+ or what was it again) as well?

I've asked it before and I will ask it again. Where when can we invest?
Great news,

One of "the Italians" is also a developer of AOS4.
Dunno about the other two.

Indeed. In the past, Amiga Inc's communiques have always been about Amiga DE, with a "yeah, yeah, OS4 is good too"; this time it was all about OS4 and the new hardware with no mention of the DE or hardware independence (which has pretty much translated to "any handheld running Windows CE" anyway). I do hope it's more than just hot air designed to keep us happy while the company goes and does something else, but thankfully AmiWest is only a month away so we shouldn't have to wait too long to see how this is panning out.

Remember that Amiga Inc have just bought a company involved in DE development, and have a look at this from the press release (quoted below) talking about AmigaAnywhere (there is a conspicuous absence of any mention of AmigaOS). Amiga Inc's website is still all about DE too (and little focus on AmigaOS)... I don't think the writing's anywhere near the wall for AmigaDE and Amiga Inc's interest in it.

@cope

Well, since there are no stocks for Amiga Inc., the
best thing we can do is to invest in developers.

That is what i have done a bit and will be doing.

Greatings, Dirk.

A brief summary of McEwen's message in one sentence:

"Very exciting blabla blabla projects, happy to blablabla, will have soon blabbla, looking forward to blabla, our upcoming new great products will blabla, together with our great partners blabla, new dawn blabla, on schedule blabla and rocking."

Nice comment! Why do think it's funny? It's the same situation with MOS.
Maybe even worse in some aspects.

Btw they only need to work with Hyperion at the moment. It's usually they (or a
selected few) that make the changes to the HAL, kernel and UBoot.
The drivers for some of the onboard stuff will be done after they get it working.

@Polka

Polka's (usual) comments in one sentence.

"OS4 blabla classic, blabla cheap blabla blabla.."

You might enoy Don Cox's post, in which he presents an edited version of Bill McEwen's talk that has every future-tense statement and every "I am excited" statement removed.
